I also know these things can take on a life of their own. It took like 3 days for Tressel to get fired over shit that’s utterly laughable in 2023.
UFM and Zach Dickbrain went from 0 to 4-game suspension in a white hot minute.
Now, OSU ended up with UFM as a result of the first and Brian Hartline as a result of the 2nd. So it worked out. But this shit can spiral quickly.
I still think M should go full-on fuck you with this, I’m not sure they can weather it. We’ll see.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

I know this hard to believe, but I would 100% be saying the same shit if this was Ohio State in the same position. I wouldn't be losing my mind over it and acting as if it's the biggest travesty in the world, because I honesty believe all of the top programs are dirty. Maybe dirty in different aspects, but dirty. And of course some to differing degrees. But we're talking about ultra-high pressure to win. At all costs. That's the college football world that we live in now. If you don't, you get fired. Fast. Millions & millions of dollars at stake. Are we really naive enough to think that our own programs don't do anything they can to get an edge?
When Michigan fans used to spout stuff about how we're holier than thou and we are such a clean program who would never stoop to such levels -- quietly, I laughed at that. Because I knew it was bullshit.
Just like Deion said (scoff all you want about him, but he obviously knows more than any of us here as to what really goes on), everyone is trying to get an edge. You got guys like Brady Quinn saying how happens everywhere on some level. I'm sure there are many others who haven't spoke up who would admit the same. And more in the coming days/weeks on this. I'm not saying it's right, or it's okay to do the wrong thing just because everyone else is doing it, but...come on.
If you really (and I'm talking to anyone who roots for an top-tier program) think your program is angelic and squeaky clean, I think you're probably lying to yourself.
Anyway, there are zero excuses for the rest of the season. It's all out and everyone knows, and Michigan's biggest tests (by far) are still ahead. So we'll see if they're cheating frauds or not. If they get beaten convincingly against Penn State or Ohio State (or by both and you can throw Maryland in there too), I'll look back and probably think yeah, they were maybe something they weren't in 21/22. But if they go out there and handle these teams the same way that they have the last couple of years, nobody will be able to convince me that their success the last couple seasons was because of some guy who was filming other teams with his iPhone. Many games of which, he reportedly no-showed on to boot.Last edited by Niffla; October 24, 2023, 09:32 PM.AAL: KhaDarel Hodges

Losing 62-0 to a renegade program like Michigan would have been better. The more points the better, then maybe the powers at MSU put the money down to raise the flag and hire Urban.
which I guess is par for the course for a Michigan and Michigan State fan...AAL: KhaDarel Hodges

I have absolutely no idea why any self-respecting Michigan fan would buy a ticket to a Val game.
Its not like Tennessee would ever agree to play Michigan 'voluntarily'.
I mean, Joe Milton plays QB for them now, but unless its one of his family members, it makes no sense at all."in order to lead America you must love America"

AND, I've made it clear I'm not going to sass any M fan on their Season Thread -- I leave M Season/Game threads alone (almost 99% of the time) and let them carry on -- like I did w/ you and Mike (except to point out Rhule actually send filiming games is wrong). AND I've made it clear I'm going to sass the ever living fuck out of "M Men" for this -- for reasons I'm sure everyone understands.
AND I've said the real issue will be how much of an advantage do you think this was (because the cheating is a given) and I told Mike exactly what I think M should do.
All that said, I don't think everyone does what M did here. There's a degree here that is really, IMO, becoming astounding. Yeah, everyone tries to steal signs but this is on another level. Like, you know, there's a difference between HARBAUGH!!!!! buying a kid a hamburger and Auburn buying Cam Newton. Yeah, technically, "every school tries to buy players" (before NIL), but the degree is wildly different. And, FTR -- I didn't shit on HARBAUGH!!!! for that nor do I much care that he lied to the NCAA and nor do I care that we was suspended. It was nonsense.
This is different, IMO. And, look, we're never going to agree on OSU-M so it's not even worth responding. But to tilt at that windmill one time and one time only, in 2022, OSU was winning at half and down by 4 at the end of the 3rd. But their offense only scored 3 points the enitre 2nd half. I think that's M's best defensive performance against OSU in a half since maybe 2016 and then probably going back at least to 2007 (I can't remember if OSU scored 7 in each half in that rock fight). Anyway, that was a really, really, reall good OSU offense. They had far less trouble railing Georgia's defense. And M had far more trouble stopping TCU. And it's clear -- whether CRD changed the signs or not -- that M had them -- 100% -- and used them. Whether that made a difference or not -- I can't possibly know and won't say. But if I were going to build a circumstantial case -- the only case you could build in a "what if" world -- that's what I would rely on. You obviously wouldn't buy any of it.
