  • Right. The most honest way to deal with this is to say, yeah -- they did it, BUT...[Insert opinion as to severity -- it's not severe b/c everyone does it, it's not severe b/c the advantage is small, it's not severe b/c teams knew about it, etc -- OR, you knew exactly what damn play was coming -- of course if mattered!]. That's where the real disagreement will eventually be. I mean -- again -- it's just like the Astros. Like I said, Altuve walked off Chapman and the Yanks like he knew that slider was coming -- BUT, he still had to hit it. And therein is the great debate.

But what people -- mostly M people -- need to move past is that this didn't happen or that it was a lone wolf type shit. I mean, he's a low-level staffer repeated talking to both coordinators and HARBAUGH during the game. They're obviously listening to him. How did they think he cracked the code? I mean, seriously. There really isn't plausible deniability.

But as to the severity -- that's where it the debate takes place.

    • I wonder what the conversation is internally.

I wonder if they led off with "What really happend?" or "How much can they prove?"

        • But, boy...when you move from honest discussion to pure sass....

          GOLD, JERRY! GOLD!

I had pretty much written off this season as a total disaster and it was fully living up to expectations. Ohio State is going to get absolutely railed by HARBAUGH!!!! and it will totally suck.

But, then this little gift appears out of nowhere and turns an otherwise horrific poop pile of season into a merely awful year that gave me a very unexpected gift of sass.

I dunno. I don't know M's internal politics or how they approach shit. This ought to be a giant circle the wagons operation, but if anyone has knives out for HARBAUGH!!!! then he is in some legitimate jeopardy. I mean, they ought to be in full SEC mode with giant fuck yous all around. If they are then the consequences are limited to public opinion (mostly). If they are in the self-flaggelation mode then this will not be good.

But, I'll certainly defer to you on that.

            • IMO, the biggest mistake M can make is to throw themselves on their swords. They need to be doling out Fuck Yous to the world. With a side order of eat a bag of dicks. The moment they move to contrite they are in jeopardy (IMO). Remain brazen. You've come this far. Stamp a giant middle finger on your two Big Ten championship flags and and stand the fuck strong. Do not cower.

The biggest threat to M in terms of consequences beyond public opinion is their own damn themselves. I firmly believe that.

Public opinion, btw, is a lost cause. There's no avoiding that. But that's consequence free.

              • I've been enjoying this entire season under the assumption it will be Harbaugh's last at Michigan. I think the previous NCAA garbage over the Covid Zoom call and hamburger at the Brown Jug were probably enough for him to wring his hands of this college shit.

Add this on top along with the fact that next year is a total rebuild and recruiting has struggled despite historic success and I'd be on the first plane out of town too. I think the Bears will be very interested and they'll have 2 of the top 3 or 4 picks in the draft. It's conceivable he goes to Chicago and they draft McCarthy to replace Fields.

                Gotta win it this year.

Absolutely goddamn right. Kansas fought tooth and nail and in the end, the NCAA accepted a self-imposed 4 game suspension for Bill Self. IN BASKETBALL. When you play upwards of 40 games in a season.

Michigan has a nasty habit of self-flagellation. Now is not the time.

                  • I think the complete rebuild and general likelihood of future success is his biggest motivation. They're really looking not great going forward.

But, like you said...this season....they're the best team in CFB...

                    • Gee, I keep getting reminders to "change my password" on my laptop. That's probably for legitimate security reasons.

Heck, if I was a CFB coach, I would probably think that maybe it's a good idea to keep changing my signals every so often, because, well, SOMEBODY might be trying to figure out what I'm doing.

                      Just a thought.

                      • It's the classic get out of town before the sheriff arrives - the 'ol Pete Carroll. I'll happily trade the next 4-5 years of "meh" for a natty this year. At the very least run the table in the Big Ten again and go out with 3 straight wins against OSU/ BT championships.

And, of course, the one team Stalions couldn't steal signs from (b/c he didn't know who M was going to play) was TCU. And, well, M lost to a fucking shitass TCU team when they didn't know what was coming.
Ya, clearly UM knew something that allowed them to push the Ohio defensive line two yards back on every snap. Oh, those signs. My lord, such an advantage.

                              • There's no point in denying that M and HARBAUGH!!! absolutely cheated. None.

Now it's just a matter of, "well, it wasn't that bad...or, even better, it's your own damn fault for letting them steal your signs!"

                                LOL.
