The ACC GoR is the thing holding FSU/Clemson back, not AAU issues. As Mike noted, if you're thinking of the B10 as the regional AAU membership conference then it's just not right. Not anymore. If it was, then Stanford and Cal would be great, great additions. But, they're total trash TV draws. So, fuck them. And rightly so. I'd take Clemson all day over either of those two shitstain sports schools.
This is essentially about building the AFC or NFC. Take you pick. The SEC is the other. And while the SEC is more regionally confined, the B10 is and will continue to be more national. They're absolutely going to add teams from the ACC if/when the GoR is cracked.
The ONLY think that doesn't make sense to me is that it's 4. I would think they'd still hold the door open, slightly, for ND.
In any event, if you have Ohio State, M, Penn State, USC, Clemson, Oregon, FSU, UCLA, Wisconsin, etc -- you have the capacity to schedule at least 1 absolute marquee "night game" every week and probably 2.
Whatever. The P12 is dead. The B12 is basically Group of 5. The ACC is teetering. And profit-sharing of some sort is likely coming in the modestly near future and it will only serve to further separate the B10 and SEC. The winners are clear. The losers are everyone else except those schools that can beg and borrow their way into one of the two winners conferences.
I should say, maybe I'm being too harsh on the B12. The potential for a Kansas State-Oregon State showdown or epic Arizona-Cincinnati game is really high.
