This got me thinking so I looked up the final CFP poll prior to the bowls/playoffs last year. It's actually a pretty good slate of teams.

        1. Georgia (13-0)
        2. Michigan (13-0)
        3. TCU (12-1)
        4. OSU (11-1)
        5. Alabama (10-2)
        6. Tennessee (10-2)
        7. Clemson (11-2)
        8. Utah (10-3)
        9. Kansas St. (10-3)
        10. USC (11-2)
        11. Penn St (10-2)
        12. Washington (10-2)

P5 conference champs are bolded. First 4 get byes so first round on-campus games would be:

        Washington at Alabama
        Penn State at Tennessee
        USC at Clemson
        Kansas State at Utah

        Sing me the fuck up!

Lets just say all the home teams win. Second round games at bowl sites would be:

        Utah vs. Georgia
        Clemson vs. Michigan
        Tennessee vs. TCU
        Alabama vs. OSU

        • Clemson had 14 games before the bowls?

          • Anyway, I think 12 teams is too many. People will be clamoring for 16 after a few years, and 24 after that (just like with D1AA ball).

            Your mileage may vary.

            • As a Husker fan...I think they should have a 128 team playoff.

I like 12. You can also forget about any meaningful non-con games in September so you might as well load up on them in November/December.

I think there are 130 D1 teams. Nebraska probably wouldn’t make it.

I like 2. The old BCS. Four is okay. Eight is the maximum I would like. Keeps the rest of the mid tier bowls. Puts the 7 playoff games at decent bowl sites.

                              • But when we expand to 16 and then 24 playoff teams (and we will), the bowls are dead. I will personally hate that.
