  • Was way off on a couple; nailed a couple (Maryland 55-20 and ISU 13-9!). 5-3 in early games.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
    Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

    • 5-5 in conference w/ some dead on and some wildly wrong. 1-2 in wildcards. Missed Missouri horribly; nailed USC. Really, really deserved better with Houston. The shame of it is that line moved to 4' by kick off. Oh well, such is life.

10-7-1 and 4-2 on the season. One more week of picking absolute total crap games.

      • Wisky is a disappointment. So is Iowa. Are the Goophers and the Boilers the teams to beat over there?

        • I was debating 1 of the Goofers, Wildcats, or Boilermakers to be a surprise team in the West which can happen in a weak division that looks even weaker than normal.

          • Minny will win the West.

            • Suffered through a middling week with a couple games that were on the south side of proper. Oh well. 10-7-1. 4-2. Staying above water on strength of opening week. Last week of total fucking shit games. Next week will just feature regular shit conference games. Big upside is fewer total games to pick.

Nebraska (+11) vs Oklahoma. Total Buchanan feelingsball pick. Perhaps the Huskerz rally with FROSTY!!! gone. And hell, while they lose all the time, it's hard to blow this team out. And double hell, Oklahoma was way better last year and barely beat them. And triple hell, I don't really believe in Oklahoma as a top 6/7 team. Sooners will find a way to win a one score game...let's say 31-27.

Purdue (+2) at Syracuse. Line has moved 3 points toward the Orange. I can't figure out why. I think the metrics are more in love with Syracuse's blowout of Louisville than I am. I think Purdue is gonna be a tough out. O'Connell has found his David Bell replacement. They still can't run, but I think they can score enough. And, shit, man -- the ACC blows. Boilers win outright 38-28.

Western Kentucky (+6') at Indiana. WKU only beating Hawaii 49-17 is a giant red flag. But, I still firmly think Indiana sucks. I watched a lot of their game against Idaho and they were awful. I mean awful. Until they finally started scoring a little. I think the Toppers win this game straight up. I'll say WKU 34-24.

Michigan (-47') vs Connecticut. The brutal OoC schedule continues for HARBAUGH!!!! Syracuse just beat UConn 48-14. HARBAUGH!!!! has found his starter in the most rigged QB derby ever. Should be lots of 1H points and I'll say that M doesn't screw shit up too bad in the 3rd. HARBAUGH!!!! to win and cover...59-7.

Rutgers (-18) at Temple. I'm not sure how much of a homefield advantage 2500 screaming Owls fans is, but I am sure that Temple is horrific enough that they should be on M's schedule. I think Rutgers destroys them. I'll say 38-10.

Auburn (+3) vs Penn State. Does anyone think James Franklin can take Penn State on the road and win against a middling SEC team? I mean, he barely won on the road against a middling B10 West team. I think Auburn wins outright 24-20.

Minnesota (-28) vs Colorado. The parade of awful teams continues. The Buffs could be the worst P5 team in the country. In fact, I'm sure how much "could" there is about it. The Goofers, meanwhile, have Ibrahim and Potts doing great work, 12th-year Sr Tanner Morgan playing well and have found a WR in Autumn-Bell. I think the Goofer wins big...45-10.

Wisconsin (-37') vs New Mexico State. JFC. The hits keep coming. I don't care any more. Badgers run, run, run and Mertz is always really good against really, really terrible teams. 52-3. Whatever.

Toledo (+32) at Ohio State. There are at least 5 other OoC opponents this week WAAAAY worse than Toledo. Ohio State is supposed to have JSN and Julian Fleming back. That should help the offense. I still think the defense gives up a big play or two. And, honestly, OSU hasn't been close to covering this season. So, I'll say Ohio State wins 45-17.

MIchigan State (+3') at Washington. I sort of, kind of believe in Sparty. But we all know the long history of B10 failures on the Pacific coast. I'm not sure who wins, but I think it's really close and will take 3 and the hook. I'll say Sparty pulls it off, 27-24, but it's a coin flip game in my mind.

Nevada (+24) at Iowa. Nevada is, well, horrid. I mean, yeah, they beat New Mexico State, but still...they just lost to Incarnate Word. And gave up 55. But you're more delusional than OSU fans who think they can win the East if you think I'm backing the Genius of Ferentz to score more than 24. DELUSIONAL. Iowa wins 20-3 in another crime against humanity.

Maryland (-2') vs Southern Methodist. This should be a pretty entertaining game. SMU ain't bad. Maryland ain't terrible. Should be some points scored. In the end, I think I like Maryland's recent OoC history and their skill to hold off the Mustangs...I'll say 45-41.

Others: Southern Illinois at Northwestern; Illinois BYE to prepare for Tennessee-Chatanooga

Mississippi (-17) at Georgia Tech. Still think Tech is horrible. Lane is going to run that shit up.
Georgia (-25) at South Carolina. I think South Carolina is horrible. Hopefully Georgia scores a little more than they did last week.
Fresno (+12) at Southern California. I'm not a big believer in USC and their defense is really bad. Fresno is solid and, I think, makes this a game for 4 quarters.

                • Michigan will fail to cover again because if the game goes as projected the starters will be gone early in the 3rd.

                  Harbaugh ain't Bobby Bowden.

                        • Purdue scores with 45 seconds left. They get an idiotic unsportsmanlike penalty and Syracuse starts at 45. And then Syracuse scores with 6 seconds left from 25 with Purdue in Cover 0. And my Purdue +2 dies a horrible death.

                          • South Alabama nearly pulls the upset at UCLA.

I knew something was up with USA when they went to Mt. Pleasant last week and beat the Chips by 10. CMU usually defends its OOC home turf fairly well.

                            In other news ..

It would have been nice to see the Huskerz pull off the upset against the Sooners, but I guess Frosty left too much of a mess to overcome in just a week. He has to be one of the most overrated HC's since Rich Rodriguez.

PSU and AwBarn going back and forth at Jordan-Hare. PSU's defense seems to be better than I thought.

Oregon is taking BYU to school at Autzen

I'm hoping Washington does the same to MSU.

                            • Indiana pulls off a win vs. the might S. Indiana or whatever one of those schools.. needed a two point conversion and a missed field goal to win and they carry off the winning kicker like they won the Rose Bowl.

                              • Watching the Wisky game a bit. How annoying listening to the announcers overdoing the greatness of the Badgers. Winning 56-0 in the 3rd. Playing possibly the worst team along with Hawaii in college football. Also, it seems a lot of Big Ten teams are playing the worst teams out there.
