  • Yeah, but you lost to, by far and away, the best team you played. You haven't beaten any team that is particularly good. Just a bunch of meh. But, sure, I think when M wins out they'll be in.

    Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

    • True but that team is going to cruise to 12-0.

Anyhow, a 1-loss B1G team seems like a shoe-in to me over a 1-loss non SEC team. JMO.

      • B10 is a mixed bag of a conference this season. A lot of bad losses and good wins.
        The teams M defeated:
        - Nebraska lost to Troy.
        - Northwestern lost to Duke and Akron.
        - Maryland lost to Temple. *Beat Texas
        - Wisconsin lost to BYU.
        - MSU lost to ASU.
Maryland defeated one of the best B12 teams, Texas. IU has a win over the ACC Coastal Division leader, Virginia. Purdue destroyed Boston College. Penn St annihilated a Pitt team that is 3-1 in the ACC.

Considering the B10 wins over Texas, TCU, and Iowa St (am I forgetting one?) ... a 1-loss B10 team (Ohio St, Michigan) is ahead of a 1-loss B12 team (Oklahoma), no question.

        • All that crap is meaningless, bowl games are about money they will find a way to get Michigan in there if they are 12-1.

Isn't the selection committee kind of insulated from the money effect though?

            • I don't think so. They'll figure out something to get the Wolverines in if they are 12-1. Unless Georgia beats Bama in the SEC championship, then things gets sketchy.

              • I think so. I also don't think M is seen as a bigger get than Oklahoma and the like even with the bowls. Now, vs UCF or Houston? Sure.

Michigan is "Americas Team" TV ratings for Michigan/Penn State will #1 watched game this weekend, 3rd time this year.

Even Michigan vs Sparty was the #2 watched game that weekend.

College football fans are obsessed with the Winged Helmet.

Michigan/osu will be #1 again. That will be the 4th time this year, the CCG will be 5th

If Michigan makes the playoffs that will be highest rated game (s) in the history of CFB

That doesn't matter. At least for present year. The charged ad rates by the networks are the same regardless of the opponent. Companies buy an ad spot for the CFP, weeks/months in advance, with teams tbd.

What matters is the ground stuff: hotels, restaurant and ticket sales. And OU would sell out.

                      • Now, following year rates are affected by a bump in the ratings this year. So, it's a good thing, but the concern the Committee would have for networks' next year rev isn't a consideration.

I think that the committee is too many steps removed to care.

                            • The exact number and duration of commercial breaks varies, so not all ads can be sold in advance. There's a spot market, IIRC, or some sorta process to deal with that. But I agree that Michigan has no inherent advantage as a result.

                              • I agree that Michigan will bring in huge ratings. They are possilby the most watched team in the country. I just don't think that the people making the decisions care
