if he was fired, I think he would have received $12.5M for the remainder of his contract (excluding any new $$$'s he received for coaching at another program). That's a lot of money to walk away from and resign for 500K

This is hard ball.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

"if he was fired, I think he would have received $12.5M for the remainder of his contract "
Under his contract he was not entitled to any future payments if he was fired for cause. Also any future payments would be offset by future earnings. Under his "resignation" he keeps the $500,000 + regardless of future earnings. And Jeff, Wilson was an asshole from day one. He's an abrasive jerk of the greatest level.

best thing about Stan's retorts is how he makes a point you made by excluding parts of your post.. such as, "excluding any new $$$'s he received for coaching at another program" =)
::hello stan:::
Indiana fans are suggesting he could have not resigned and fought for the $2.5M. So they think Wilson walked away because something was bad. Perhaps they are not aware of all the details of the contract or they are trying to justify their AD's decision.
What I have seen is KU and TT fired successful coaches for cause and they've yet to recover. Doesn't mean they were wrong, just saying they haven't recovered on the field.Last edited by entropy; December 6, 2016, 10:33 AM.Grammar... The difference between feeling your nuts and feeling you're nuts.

An article about some reasons why the B10 rose to the top this season, relegating the vaunted S! E! C! to Sun Belt country: http://www.si.com/college-football/2...xid=nl_siextra
There's enough sanctimony in there to really annoy the fuck out of non-B10 fans. So, outstanding piece. Would read again.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

I'm really curious to see how the B10 fares in the postseason. 10 years ago, OSU and M played the "Game of the Year" with OSU winning by 3, though it was a far more comfortable 3 than this year. OSU then went out to Glendale, as it's doing this year. And was assrailed, mostly by the Florida DL. Other parts of the team were fine, but the OSU OL had little hope of handling Florida's front. M went out to the Rose Bowl and played USC -- who was in line for Glendale until an improbable loss to UCLA knocked them out. M's pass defense finally gave way in the 3rd and the deluge was on. Wisconsin, a 12-1 team that year, barely beat Arkansas in the Citrus. It wasn't good.
I tend to think OSU and M are better teams front to back than they were in 2006. Now, M doesn't have the offense it did 10 years ago, but the defense is, IMO, considerably more solid from the front to back. The DL + Secondary create real problems for most teams, and they're going to travel. They'll also move the ball on offense -- not running necessarily, but utilizing a really strong set of receivers.
Ohio State's matchup is little trickier. Like Glendale 1, OSU OL isn't particularly good and, unfortunately, Clemson's DL is the strength of that unit. If they get down and have to pass it will be like their final drive against PSU all over -- where JTB was besieged every single play. They really need to have a legitimate IZ threat and throw the ball enough, and out of sequence, to keep Clemson from loading up. Meanwhile, Clemson's receiving corps + Watson will be hard. OSU has 3 potential first round picks in the secondary, but Clemson has skill players to work on the other guys who can't cover -- I'm looking at you Dame Webb. That's going to be problematic. I do think OSU's DL can handle Clemson's OL well enough and limit Gallman a bit. But I also think Watson will key in on the secondary mismatch and cause all sorts of problems. And I think that's enough for Clemson to win, but it'll be close.
So, I don't know -- I'm not seeing a 2006 shame showing upcoming.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
