  • That wasn't a great LSU team. Yes, I still miss Mike Archer. They were 8-4, and besides that loss in C-bus, they were drubbed by Miami by 41 points, lost to 7-5 Florida by 13, and by 13 to Syracuse in the Hall of Fame Bowl. In 1989 and 1980, Archer would go 4-7 and 5-6 (respectively) and be fired.

I wonder if Archer is still coaching? He was a LB coach at UVa, but I don't see him on the coaching roster anymore.

    • The LSU team we tied in Baton Rouge finished 10-1-1 and won the Gator Bowl. We were 6-4-1 and Bruce got fired. The following year LSU wasn't as good but we were 4-6-1 and got blown out by the likes of Pitt, Illinois, and Indiana

        • You beat Illinois, the #3 team in Illinois?

          • Boiler autofade costs me perfect week. 5-1. OSU almost pushed, but a dumb ass non-necessary block negates an INT return at the end and the game ended at IU 5. Deserved result, though.

So continues my hot/cold streak. I'd dial up the autofade next week. I think that's 21-16-1 on the year.

              • That's not a battle. Rutgers is so bad its incomprehensible. I can't fathom how Iowa only beat them by 7.

                  • Indiana, Michigan State & Penn State might all be better than Iowa.

                    • Yeah I see a total beat down in Iowa City.

                      • Wisconsin & Nebraska are a clearly a level or two ahead of Iowa. That game has swung from a flip coin pre-season to what should be a 3-score win.

                        • Wisky is ahead of UNL too. UNL doesn't have the OL or DL to stay with Michigan or OSU. Wisky does.

                            • Indiana's defense is "good" by Indiana standards

                              Comment

                              • I said this in another thread but I'd call IU just good without the qualifier. The reason is Kevin Wilson has his players believing they can be good. IU's DC, Tom Allen, has elevated IU's play on that side of the ball considerably.

If you read between the lines in some of ufm's and jtb's post game comments, the reason neither of them were happy about their performances is because, and I'm speculating here, IU's defense had Barrett confused. He held the ball way too often on his RPO reads which means, I'm thinking, the IU had good coverage where he likes to throw it and that is generally not deep although he has shown he can do that. He just didn't in this game.

I could be off here but I think IU's D had something to do with those comments. I suspect M will have it's hands full when Indiana comes to town 11/19.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
