    Heh.

"Sure, all the top teams in the SEC won their non-conf games....beat three ranked teams...beat 5 P5 teams...but how did Vandy and South Carolina play? Did they win by 50? No? They won but not by a lot? Well, hard to say it was a good week for the SEC then"

50? Try beating winless GaState by more than 6...

Look at my list of 7 meh games and, other than the Duke-NFW cripple fight, pick out the one you think was a good win. Where did I go wrong? Which of those games that I listed do you see and think..."GO TEAM! GOOD WIN!"

      • I don't particularly think any of them was a "good win". Where I differ from you, I don't consider the Maryland, Rutgers, and Illinois games to be of equal importance to the conference as the OSU, MSU, and Nebraska games were. So long as Maryland won they met my expectations.

Wisconsin, as you point out, had a far shittier performance that was disappointing based upon their prior two weeks. But in the end the "big games" do more to improve the standing of the conference than ugly wins will do to hurt it. Wisconsin losing would've been far worse than winning by any margin against Georgia State would've been "good". In a few more weeks people will forget this Georgia State game ever happened but remember that Wisky beat LSU.

Incidentally, Wisconsin might not win another game till November.

Wisconsin, Illinois, Maryland, Rutgers, Iowa, and Penn State are all member institutions of the B1G. When you make the statement "the B1G had a good day" I think the majority of the conference played well. But when 7 of the 11 have "meh" games or worse, I just don't get the "good day" vibe.

If you had said "four B1G teams had really good games" I would have agreed.

            • I don't regard the games (or the members) all of equal importance. In terms of conf image, if Nebraska, OSU, and MSU had all been blown out, this would not have been "offset" by big Maryland, Rutgers, and Penn State victories over UCF, New Mexico, and Temple respectively.

Penn State, Iowa, and Wisconsin could've had better days.

              • Haha, okay, DSL.

Anyway, the B1G had four very nice games. Congrats.

                • If I've learned anything from SEC, it's that it's the top teams that matter for conference pride.

I don't know what LSU, Notre Dame, OU, Colorado or Oregon will look like at the end of the season. My sense is that those teams will represent nice nonconference wins.

                  That said, whatever.

                  • Fuck conference pride.

If Jeffery Dahmer was the QB on a Hilter-coached team and played an SEC team not named Bama, well, sieg heil and pass the A-1 sauce.

                      • With 14 team conferences, strength of conference means less and your schedule means more. Still, it affects the subjective polls. All SEC 1-loss teams will be ahead of any other 1-loss teams and so on...

                        • Strength of the conference imo is more how the top of the conference is and the top of the B1G did very well beating Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and Oregon.

                              • Its to bad Sparty let up on ND, best part was Kelly asking his DC "what the fuck are you doing?" on the sidelines.

3.22/6 Michigan State-Notre Dame overnight is the highest rating for a ND football game on NBC since MS-ND on 9/21/13
