On Obrien ..... while it might be nice to think CFB coaches ought to stick with commitments they have made to the schools that hired them, That's not how it works.
First, no court in the land would uphold a contract that absolutely limited an employee's freedom to move. They have, in fact, repeatedly ruled against onerous provisions of employment contracts intended to limit choice. End of that wishful thinking.
Second, CFB head coaching is the big time. CEOs get picked off all the time in the corporate world. It's just the way it is. Nobody complains about it. I have no problem with coaches wanting to advance themselves based on performance. They can choose to stay as well. I guess we don't have to worry about any of M's football staff getting picked off.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

For those watching today, Wisconsin is a well coached team that got out talented, Nebraska finally played defense preserving the suffering of Big Red fans every where: Pelini is a lock for another 2-3 seaaons. Iowa and Ferentz are Iowa and Ferentz.
Finally, MSU is playing the kind of football Brady Hoke would like to have M playing. Tough, blue collar, physical. They may lose, Stanford is way better, but they play hard and are exceptionally well coached (Cook). Too bad that style of play is not going to happen in AA any time soon.Last edited by Jeff Buchanan; January 1, 2014, 06:42 PM.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. Jeff,
I understand the business of it.
It's still shitty opportunistic buck chasing instead of sticking by your word. That used to mean something when I was growing up. I understand how that has slipped.
I repeat my earlier argument. How does a coach look a kid in the eye and convince him to come play for him and then cut and run. Petrino was only the most reprehensible example of this far too often used weasel move.
A coach has a chance to explore opportunities when his contract is up. It's not the reserve clause from MLB fer crissakes.Benny Blades~"If you break down this team man for man, we have talent to compare with any team."

So, what school do the sophomores and juniors, watching football games this afternoon who are the best mid-western recruits go to?
MSU with Dantonio and Narduzzi coaching them or Michigan with their menagerie of coaching buffoons?
No contest and this is part of the reason why M is F'ed for a long, long time.
Thanks, Dave.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Michigan State just kicked Stanford's ass at the LoS.
I guess that makes me feel good about OSU's running game going against Clemson. Spence and Roby being out makes me feel like it will take 63 from the offense to force OT.
Decent day for B10. Meh.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.
