This is about the NCAA destroying the college coaching career of Jim Harbaugh. And, they will likely succeed.

I don't get why you are getting this vibe. Rational actors are starting to see through the purpose of creating a false narrative that, for various reasons, irrational people are buying into it. Too many negative articles or media talking heads giving derogatory, larger than life assessments of the extent of Michigan's sign decoding efforts - yet this is the same kind of work done by every CFB staff. But, yeah, M's version of sign decoding are heinous rules violations and accordingly, front sports page news.

There's no question there's an obvious attempt to create a scandalous sports narrative that characterizes the Michigan football staff as Astros level "DIRTY FUCKING CHEATERS" operating a massive, coordinated sign decoding operation that is the biggest scandal in sports history. Juicy, except its bunk.

Never mind careers and reputations are being unjustifiably wrecked, young athletes, especially the high visibility players, are being harmed - mostly mentally by incomprehensibly unfair criticism of the head coach they obviously admire. I'm willing to speculate, beyond the mental stress the players and coaches are going through, that team 144 is going to suffer material damage in the form of being prevented from achieving their goals of another B10 Championship, play-off birth and NC.

M may or may not win out but the discouraging potential of winning out then being banned from post season play. All of this because of trumped-up disclosures and actions of irrational adults, is. the real story. That's it and something seems fishy about it all.

Clearly, our rivals that choose to post here aren't going to agree with my take but Michigan is being unfairly maligned by the modern version of 19th century yellow journalism - click bait. Its sensational journalism intended to drive page views or eyeballs on TVs to generate profits, not considering harm or recognizing how insignificant, still officially unproven, NCAA rules violations actually are.

Jeff - from my view the NCAA has had a hard-on for ending Harbaugh's career within college football for some time now. Everything they 'investigate' is around him. And when its about him, they come after it full bore. That's my view.

I think Michigan should receive some penalties, but not to the extent that our opposing fans here desire.

I already know what the 'bad' phase is going to be.

1. Harbaugh will be suspended for the entire '24 season, which will lead to him leaving or being dismissed. This is the key objective for the NCAA.

For fun the NCAA will add:

2. Michigan will forfeit games from '21, '22 and probably '23.

3. Michigan will be fined several million dollars. Probably somewhere in the $10 million range. Could be more.

4. Michigan will not be allowed to play in the post season in '24.

5. Michigan will be penalized several on campus official recruiting visits.

6. Michigan will be penalized several in-home recruiting visits.

7. Several Michigan assistant coaches will be suspended for multiple games in '24.

8. Michigan will lose at least 5 scholarships for 3 years, totalling 15 scholarships.

I don't know what the appropriate punishment was or is going to be. But if you were already suspended for lying/failing to cooperate with the NCAA it's a problem if Partridge was truly fired for what is being reported. If Partridge was destroying evidence and telling players not to talk to investigators, this is far bigger than determining competitive advantage from illegally taping teams.

Has even Sparty used a PI "Firm" to gain competitive advantage not in the spirit of sportsmanship? Has the dirt found been an "impermissible scheme" not written in the rules?

Are there any other actions by NCAA teams that are not written in the rules that led to an advantage for their member teams? Trick play calls maybe? Better coaching and weight training?

Is using a PI for competitive advantage an impermissible scheme but not written in the rules?

Does summary judgment form a potentate affect the fairness of a just begun investigation by the initiating governing body?
