        • Like I said before: good. I hope my boy Connor stole all of Nebraska's signs before their game, and I hope Michigan used them to beat Nebraska by 38 instead of 28.

          Now STFU

                • Iowa's Cooper DeJean is out for the season. The B1G title game just got funnier.

                  • We really really really gots to beat OSU. That's the real B1G championship game and our last shot at a conference title probably for the foreseeable future. Even though we have won back-to-back, we still need this one more than the Bucks. The Bucks will be hoisting the trophy next year. They might split their tough road games (Oregon, PSU), but nobody is going to run the table.

                    • I don't know what you three stalwart rival fans are hoping for in terms of additional punishments for M or Harbaugh but as this whole thing moves to the courts facts supporting that Harbaugh et.al. knew what Stalion was doing, something other than circumstantial evidence is going to be required. I've not seen anything so far characterized as a slam dunk winner for the B10 in this thing.

In the short term, if, on this coming Friday, M is not granted the Preliminary Injunction they are seeking, they'll appeal the denial. Still, compliance with the 3 game suspension by M, will continue and, to a certain extent, the teams of involved parties will get their pound of flesh. In the end, IMO, Petitti has bitten off more than he can chew. His logic in the basis of his authority to punish M/Harbaugh is (IMO) tortuous and is not likely to prevail ..... you'd not suspect any other opinion from me but if you've looked at his letter to M explaining the punishment and what authorizes him to impose it and you have taken the time to understand applicable NCAA and B10 rules, you'll probably begrudgingly agree with me.

By the time there is finality to the entire affair, the NCAA will have (1) provided M with notification, (2) completed it's investigation, (3) presented their findings to M, who will (4) respond within the 90d time frame for that, (5) punishment(s) imposed. I'd say two years for all that to occur and that may be on the early side. I further believe that the B10 will be restrained from issuing additional penalties either by the NCAA or the courts pending the outcome of the NCAA's investigation - you have to have read and understood the applicable NCAA rules why that is so.

Meanwhile, M's lawyers will continue to find ways to get the B10 sidelined in terms of keeping Petitti from imposing additional punishments. I'm confident that will happen but won't speculate on how and when. I've read multiple legal arguments most likely to be presented to the court by M's lawyers. It's a waste of time to rehash them and I'm not a lawyer so, I won't other than to say several angles that M can pursue seem reasonable and logical. One of them will be the separate complaint against the B10/Petitti that Jim Harbaugh and his lawyers filed. One of the more interesting approaches he might take involve restriction of employment that raise anti-trust issues - a long shot but an interesting one that the B10 may have to deal with that they most likely do not want to do that.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                      • Again -- because this seems lost on M fans -- under NCAA rules the HC does not have to have actual knowledge of staff wrongdoing. The HC is strictly liable for the actions of his staff.

M fans can pretend that isn't the rule. They can pretend this is some sort of criminal proceeding with a criminal standard. They can pretend "due process" applies to an organization's enforcement of an organization's rules. They can pretend a whole bunch of shit that just isn't so.

Nothing further is going to happen to them in 2023. In fact, it seems like HARBAUGH**** will coach against Ohio State.

But I do hope, very much, that Buchanan is around in 2024 when the real stuff happens.

Everyone here understands that. What you don't understand is that we are in the "penalty phase" of this mess. The penalty is what matters (assuming that some of what is being alleged is true). And any equitable outcome in the penalty phase can depend on whether the Coaching staff knew about the CS machinations. Knowing is worse than not knowing.

What UM means by "due process" is not the legal term but rather having the investigation and punishment be done in regular order as the B10 and the NCAA have handled other similar cases.

Due process means, at least to this UM fan, being innocent until proven guilty rather than this inversion of the system wherein the punishment is meted out prior to investigation. I find it unbelievable that CS has not been interviewed by either the B10 or the NCAA. If the word "investigation" means anything it should mean talking to the accused.

I read an article this morning talking about what would be the case if UM left the B10. UM produces roughly 1/3 of all income to the B10. That's a fact. The statement was.."Without Michigan, the B10 is basically the Mountain West.
