... Liney I think is still hopeful; that it is not as dreadful as it could be.....
As far as the so-called cheating, I still don't believe that Harbaugh brought Stalions in, and told him to go spy on other teams by any means necessary. I don't think he told him or authorized him to go to opponents stadiums. I do believe he was impressed with Stalions research and how accurate he was in reading other teams' signals. I believe Harbaugh told him to go and continue his research, but stay within the rules while gathering it. Harbaugh knows NCAA rules. He has to brief the players on the rules every year. I refuse to believe that he told Stalions to forget the rules, and just get the information.
And I don't think the NCAA or B1G can prove otherwise.
So, on Wednesday (or Tuesday?) the B1G will suspend Harbaugh for 2 games, and fine Michigan 10K. That's the limit that Tony Titties can go. Michigan will file for relief in court, (Federal Court in Detroit?) and then I guess its game on for the legal people. How that turns out is anyone's guess. I hope that it turns out that Harbaugh can coach the remainder of the season.
One hope I have, like Mike, is that I've never seen U-M so unified on anything like this situation, since I've been following M football. President, Regents, basically everyone with any authority is backing Harbaugh. And they know more than any of us in this room, as they have access to information not released. Even Paul Finebaum and Rece Davis has no clue as to what the Michigan leadership has. IMO, they wouldn't be so willing to fight if they felt they had a weak case.
I'm hoping for the best for the players. And having their coach with them is what's best. That's where I am."in order to lead America you must love America"

The NCAA is a joke. It was back in the SMU/SWC days and still is. They knew about a lot of that crap but didn't want to deal with it until they had to...then when they did...the hammer came down...in a big way...and killed a program...and punished the wrong people...which is what always happens. This needs to be dealt with quickly and fairly...but it won't be...in either regard...I can assure you of that. The B1G needs to do something though because this is becoming a fucking black eye for them.
I wish you wouldn't have cheated. But you did.Shut the fuck up Donny!

The B10 wanted Harbaugh suspended indefinitely, now it is 2 games, then the information about the B10 teams cheating against Michigan along with a paper trail. All this while the NCAA has already reported Harbaugh had no cheating connections with Stalions. Michigan is willing to burn it down, I'm sure a few presidents are ah oh wait maybe we shouldn't suspend him? Rabbit has the gun.

The "information" from M doesn't allege any rule-breaking. That's the biggest, heh, flaw in the the M "dirt".
Whereas M are KNOWN and UNDENIABLY....Dirty. Fucking. Cheaters.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

So, I'm assumign they got waaaaay more if they want to successfully implement the "Blackmail the Conference so we don't punished for our dirty fucking cheating" plan. That's a pretty bold move. So far, not great. But, these are M men -- they wouldn't misrepresent anything especially in a giant game of chicken.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

This was posted just recently at mgoboard. It is a detailed legal analysis of what M is facing this week - the threat of the Big imposing a 2 game suspension for violating the Big's Sportsmanship Rule and the filing of a TRO. It has nothing to do with what comes after the filing of a TRO by M. It draws no conclusions wrt to some of the unanswered questions that might arise in a court addressing a permanent injunction. The entire legal analysis is at the link.
In short, if Pettiti tries to penalize Michigan in any significant way (including by suspending Harbaugh) under the Sportsmanship Policy, Michigan will sue and seek a preliminary injunction blocking the suspension. Another attorney-fan posted about that earlier today. Preliminary injunctions are hard to obtain because of the procedural standard, so a win isn't assured, but Michigan will have the better argument.
Michigan will correctly argue that if the Big Ten Commissioner punishes Michigan in connection with an NCAA-initiated investigation before the NCAA investigation is completed, that violates Rule 32 of the conference rules and is a material breach of the U of M's agreement with the Big Ten. (Note for your arguments on other message boards: although fairness and prudence counsel against the B10 punishing a school before conducting any serious investigation because rival schools pressured them to do so, there's no need to rely on vague values such as fairness or "due process" here since the conference rules solve this question.)
