If you have an Amazon Echo, you need a free trial of Amazon Music!! We will earn $3 and it's free to you!

Your personal information is completely private, I only get a list of items that were ordered/shipped via the link, no names or locations or anything. This does not cost you anything extra and it helps offset the operating costs of this forum, which include our hosting fees and the yearly registration and licensing fees.

    • It won’t stop with Iowa if people start to dig.

        • I'd be pretty surprised if sports gambling was legal in Iowa but I'm pretty sure it is in Illinois. I have no idea how gambling apps work on your phone. Does it only matter where you are physically are when you place the bet or does it filter out Iowa phone numbers no matter where you are?

EDIT: Even so, loads of Iowa students come from Illinois. It's like a safety school of Chicago area kids who fail to get into ND, Northwestern, Illinois, or Wisconsin.

          • The apps/gambling houses don’t really care.

Not only that, but with sites like DraftKings, FanDuel, and the like, you can gamble in most states now with very little grief. Even where it is restricted, any child can figure out the workarounds.

Yeah I'm assuming a VPN will get you on DraftKings anywhere but don't really know for sure.

Hey! I’ll be attending a graduation at Carver Hawkeye this weekend for a family member who is from metro Chicago. Sibling goes to Iowa as well. They DID both get accepted to Illinois’ and Purdue’s engineering schools but Iowa sweetened the deal to make it a better bargain to go to Iowa than stay in state at UI. In fact, the only “no” they got, to my knowledge, was Michigan and even I wouldn’t have recommended they go to AA based on out of state tuition and board.

Heh. That's pretty good to get into both Illinois and Purdue engineering, no sarcasm. Sometimes the money is the deal-breaker. Believe it or not, the amount of financial aid I got from Cornell versus Ohio State (jack shit) basically made Cornell only a couple grand more expensive. And this is back when OSU was still well under 10k a year.

                    • Iowa City is a nice college town if you like those sort of things. Think of it is a smaller, quainter, less decrepid version of Lincoln.

There is nothing between Chicago and IC except plains. Well, and the Quad Cities -- a can't miss hidden gem in America's heartland! Take in a River Bandits game whilst there and feast on non-frozen wings!

The article you posted from Yahoo says:

Iowa has had full legal online sports betting since Jan. 1, 2021.

I really enjoyed our trip this past fall for the Michigan game. Stayed downtown, walking distance to the stadium, good times.

                              • Iowa and Nebraska are probably going to be the last Big10 campuses I visit. Only other one I haven't been to is Rutgers and I'm thinking about hitting them this season.

Well scratch that, heh. I've never been to USC or UCLA either. Heh
