Don’t like the hire.
However, I said the same about the Lions hiring Dan Campbell at the time. Campbell quickly won me over by showing unworldly enthusiasm and hiring an excellent staff. Sure there’s a chance that Walters can win me over too. Starts with hiring an excellent staff and showing recruiting promise. This hire can easily send Purdue to the basement of the Big Ten if not. Purdue going the defensive route is going to be strange. Joe Tiller, Danny Hope, Darrell Hazell, and Jeff Brohm all had offensive backgrounds. I’m not sure if Purdue has had a quality defense since… 2004 maybe. Though 2022 was decent for a Purdue defense.

Mike Price never coached a single game. He’s easy to forget. Shula was an effete ineffectual shell of a coach.
