    • Santa typically transactional over transformative

Seriously, hopefully he can help M athletics to compete with our competition who are outbidding us for recruits. M has lost far more than normal recruits in this class who insiders were optimistic we'd land.

      • Just one man's rankings but SI article says OSU is the most valuable school in the nation for any conference

        #21 Iowa
        #29 Northwestern
        #33 Nebraska (lololol)

              • That’s a pretty interesting raking from SI but I don’t think academics and especially Olympic sports carry much weight when it comes to conference realignment. They gloss over local media markets by citing Rutgers/NYC, but that’s an outlier, IMO. Because Rutgers. I guarantee you that Detroit, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Chicago, etc. deliver rock solid ratings for Big Ten football games, especially for the home team(s).

However, it does stand to reason that 13 of the 14 “most valuable” programs are in the Big Ten & SEC with the only outlier being ND.

                • I think Columbus and Birmingham are two the largest CFB markets for TV. I'm not sure if where they rate in terms of pure quantity, but my guess is ahead of NYC. They are easily 1-2 (in some order) for Ratings.

So, yeah, the NY market get the fuck out.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
                  Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

Being a AAU does carry a big weight. Without it there has to be some massive checkmarks the other way (like ND has) to get a sniff.

                    • If this is accurate both Big10 Football and Basketball will be completely gone from ESPN/ABC.

                      • From that article:
The Big Ten is expected to be the first college conference to eclipse $1 billion per year in rights fees once all is said and done.
How can the Big Ten make more money than the SEC?

Lord Saban will not be pleased.

                        • The Big Ten always makes more, that isn't the surprise. If NBC is involved in the primetime games and Peacock streaming, that's a gateway to Notre Dame at some point. Having CBS involved is applying the pressure to the SEC.

                          • Not always. I believe they go back and forth with the SEC each time the conferences bid out their rights packages.

But man, no more ESPN?! AND we get CBS and the absolute best sports broadcast intro music known to mankind?! It’s like Christmas in August. CAN’T. WAIT.

                            • Yeah, but it means we get a steady diet of Gus Johnson on Fox Sports. And Urban Meyer.

                              • I don’t mind Gus and he comes with homer Joel Klatt. AND Fox prioritizes that noon slot.
