  • This is like when the neighborhood bully got so strong...all the weak kids banded together to stand up to him...SEC is Biff Tannen...the Alliance is Doc Brown and Marty...

    • Yeah. I hope we find a way to honor all of those commitments.

      • Those games are dead as disco. As is Michigan - Oklahoma.

        • Only rumor I have seen is that the Big10 may go back to an 8 game conference schedule (the ACC too) and every team would schedule one Pac12 team and one ACC team every year. Or at least try to. Something like the rumored Big10-PAC12 Challenge that fell apart in the early 2010's.

Could be total BS. It's hard for me to see teams like Clemson and FSU basically dropping their SEC rivalries.

          • That would be my bet, Mike. If there's some sort of "schedule a team from each of the other conferences" requirement, then there's no way Ohio State is adding UAT on top of those games.

Only question is when this nonsense starts. If the B10 is actually on-board, then it'd make sense for it to commence 2024 when their TV rights are up (I think it's 2024).

            Whatever. Fuck Kevin Warren.

            • The scheduling component for football and basketball "will begin as soon as practical while honoring current contractual obligations," but the decision-makers involved said the alliance between the Pac-12, ACC and Big Ten was not driven by revenue.

              • They said they want to honor existing commitments....well, our schedule is practically booked through 2027 and we have games with Alabama and Georgia after that

                • Virginia Tech doesn't have a non-conference opening until 2031.

This entire alliance reminds me of the arrangement pro wrestling promoters in the 1980s tried to make to combat Vince McMahon's nationwide expansion. That arrangement lasted about a year or so, if memory serves, because pro wrestling promoters are not exactly known for looking out for anyone else's interests other than their own. I'm thinking modern-day conference commissioners, et al., are probably much the same.

                        • Oh did the contract have a Sanity Clause?

Ha ha ha, you can't foola Wiz! There ain't no sanity clause!

                          • It's interesting you think there were ever such contracts or that The Wizard would every voluntarily enter into such things. Are you implying that we are all born into some sort of vague social compact to maintain a level of sanity and hygiene that, at least, does not give great offense?
