Northwestern - Minnesota is already canceled for this Saturday. Looks like NW will clinch the West without playing. The only other team with a shot is 4-2 Iowa and NW beat them head to head. It's not just sports that are suffering from the varying COVID related guidelines. For example, how long one needs to isolate or quarantine now varies from 7 to 21 days. What you need to do to return to work, whether you need a test or not, varies by state and by employment circumstance.
Some of this has to do with the Trump administration's initial response but more of it has to so with the inappropriate politicization of the pandemic response at the state and county level since.
This should shed light on why the public is basically saying fuck it when it comes to following mitigation measures perceived as ineffective and/or inconvenient. Unnecessary lives are being lost due to non-compliance with the simplest mitigation measures. It is disturbing to hear Anthony Fauci among others trying to urge the public to stay home.
