There was much despair after the Florida Atlantic opener last season, too.
Ohio State could beat most teams w/ Jack Miller or CJ Stroud at QB. But they absolutely need Fields to have any prayer against HARBAUGH!!!! and SPEEDINSPACE!!!!
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]? Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.
But there's also a good chance that these could be false positives.
I'd lay money on it right now that they were false positives. Especially since those two QB's were the ONLY two players on the team, including coaches and support personnel, that tested positive. Everybody else was negative.
Right before sweet potatoes are mashed, they get very quiet. This is known as the silence of the yams
If M was down to their 4th string QB, they’d be f****ed. It’s some walk-on QB that I can’t even remember the name of.
3rd string QB would probably be a terrible situation too with true freshman 3-star Dan Villari.
The bad thing for Wisconsin is their running game didn’t look Wisconsin-like vs Illinois. Graham Mertz was the offense.
Not good, Wisconsin....

Reason: spell check

I agree. It doesn't add up. They all tested negative Friday night before the game. Maybe Mertz went out celebrating with some co-eds afterward, which is entirely possible. Who knows.
Mertz's PCR test came back positive. He's out 21 days. They're still waiting on Wolf's 2nd test. Best case for Wisconsin is they're playing with their 3rd string QB the next 3 games but in all likelihood, it will be the 4th stringer.
This is gonna sound terrible.... but there will be a certain comedic value to watching Don Brown's defense play against what I imagine is a walk-on quality QB. I am certainly not gloating because the same thing can happen to us. BUT, it's possible that seeing this will keep our guys focused. I mean, Wisconsin went from Big Ten West favorite to.... not being that because their QBs hung out with the wrong person. This makes me wonder how teams conduct position group meetings, etc. I'd have those guys spread out all over the indoor practice fields. No actual meeting rooms. Beating Covid is as important as beating your opponents on Saturdays. Maybe this pandemic season will favor smart people, which we fancy ourselves as!
