                      • Well, sure but really, Froot. NCAA B-Ball is a totally different world when it comes to benefits compared to CFB. It's present in CFB but not to the degree it is in basketball.... and I don't mean to excuse Ed Martin and the huge sums of money in relative terms he handed out to Chris Weber, et. al.

Benefits have a different character in CFB. They are there but I don't think on teams with 22 guys on an 85 man roster, one star on the take makes that big of a difference than one star on the take on a 5 man, what is it, 20 roster holders on a basketball team.

But know this. I think the NCAA's vision of holding on to amateurism is so hypocritical, so wrong when it comes to the obscene amounts of money being generated by the efforts of 18-22yo kids who get nothing, in relative terms, to the money that they generate for P5 CFB programs that it's criminal.

The NCAA can't justify what's going on yet they hold power. That will continue until college presidents with the balls to flip the apple cart unmask the thievery. Sure, that might cause a drop in revenue for football programs, like M's and many others that are the front porch to their respective Us, but it's time to stop the nonsense.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

There is no incentive for College Presidents to change anything about the current system. They make a TON of money right now and until there is a severe outside pressure on the NCAA as a whole nothing will change.

                          • Well, it's not the money that the U admins have any control over. It's money that it is the hands of the Athletic Departments and ADs determine how it's spent. The presidents absolutely could over-turn the apple cart if any of them had the balls to do it but they don't so, I generally agree with you that it's not going to happen through them ......

...... except if NIL has the far reaching implications that it should. We just don't know yet how far this is going to go but in the next couple of years, I think, with a foot in the door on ending the stupid amateurism rules every other sports organization dealing in this matter has abandoned, with the exception of the NCAA, a whole new era of college sports will ensue.

                            • Looks like MSU is going to get their man.

My guess is that they will agree in principle today after the interview, and news of the actual hire will start leaking out tomorrow. Presser on Wednesday or Thursday.

I'd offer getting interviewed is a long way from getting hired.

                                Stay at Cincy Luke.
