  • Truthfully, if you are going to have 9 games a year, you need a couple teams like Rutgers.

    • True dat. Certainly if you are in the East and you play three out of UM, MSU, PSU, and OSU every year, along with one or two of Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Iowa.

        unsurprising

I'd be a prick too if Bethune cookman could be my only bright spot of the 2018 campaign

        • Sometimes going to Rutgers is a surprising pain in the ass. It certainly won't be this year, but a few years ago they gave the Spartans one of their toughest tests.

          • There are a tremendous amount of Big Ten alums in NYC and DC. Bringing Maryland and Rutgers into the Big Ten brought those markets into play. Every Big Ten University has at least a Tier 3 connection (1-4.99%) of its alums in those two cities/markets.

The Big Ten (with the exception of Northwestern) are all land grant, public universities. They are all AAU members too. So a lot of common ground among all the Big Ten universities. The Big Ten footprint is contiguous too that helps.

Being an AAU member and in a contigous state is not a requirement. Nor is being a land grant public university. But it certainly helps and if a perspective member is not one of those it would have to bring a lot to the table. Someone like Notre Dame or Texas would come into the Big Ten very easily (from a vote POV).

I think eventually the Big 12 is going to break up. And it will be interesting to see if the Pac12 revenues staying lagging as they are. If they do then Colorado would be an interesting addition. But Kansas seems a logical target too. Oklahoma would be a slam dunk if they ever get AAU status.
2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. Coleman QB 7b) Kewshan Martin WR

No guarantee it will be a bright spot. Dumbass.

                  • Well, according to ESPN's QBR (they call it RAT) Patterson is #3 (160.5) behind haskins (207) and Blough (164.2).

Haskin's numbers are astonishing. talent nails the osu/PSU contest coming down to a fourth quarter battle between haskins and McSorely. In terms of the numbers, haskins should win this battle hands down. I was surprised to see McSorely's numbers. He's only completing 53.8% of his passes. Just looking at PSU highlights you'd think he was the second coming of Baker Mayfield.

Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                    • I don't think you can play out Haskins v. McSorley at Happy Fucking Valley in the 4th fucking Quarter on paper. If ever there was a time to factor in "feelings" and "intangibles" ....

                      • Decent test for the offensive line, however the defense should look dominant against overmatched opposition.

If the OL protects Shea and M runs for 5+ per carry, I'll have a lil more optimism that M is a contender for the B1G.

Correct and not trying to suggest it comes down to only that. But haskins has the clear advantage in being very efficient. I'd be counting heavily on that if I was an osu fan.

I haven't watched close enough in 2018 to determine if haskins has "it" or the steel in his spine to find ways to win. He probably hasn't been challenged that way in 2018. McSorely has that characteristic and has demoed it during his career at PSU so, he makes plays when it counts. I think haskins did that v. M when barrett went down. That was a tough time to come off the bench. He did well. Plenty of guys would have freaked out. He clearly was mentally prepared ...... I can't think he hasn't improved in his levels of confidence and play making skills. Good test of that coming up this weekend.

                          • Yeah, look -- Haskins is going to be waaaay better in the NFL. He's really good. I mean, really good. But, against TCU he struggled a little -- not much -- but a little with getting the ball out and with some of the pressure. I think TCU has a better pass rush AND secondary than Penn State. But playing Dallas in front of a 65/35 OSU crowd ain't HV. If Haskins responds then Ohio State is going to win barring some sort of biblical HV sideways assramming misfortune.

I'm betting that the game is close going into the 4th and I think I feel more comfortable backing McSorley to pull through. So, I mean I'm not sitting here saying OSU has no chance or can't win. I think it's pretty damn close to a toss-up.
