  • These unis amounted to little more than reversing the color scheme. I can accept that, especially when compared with all the adidas nonsense.

JH has plenty of input. They wore all white on the road for two years because he wanted to.

AA, I don't have a good answer for you. The Jumpman logo doesn't belong in football. The way jerseys stretch anyways on some guys it looks more like a ballerina doing the splits. But, is what it is. If the alternates never get worse than this, and if it's limited to road games, and ideally even non-playoff neutral-site games, then whatever.

I agree with this, but for the most part, like Tevya, those of us that do are being passed by.

I'm not sure various posters, and you are one of them, are being serious or sarcastic. Which one is it? b/c if you are serious, you are spot on.

            TRADITION!!!!!
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

              • Every year there are some young Bama fans who want Bama to use crimson pants with a crimson shirt and some metalic crimson helmet with a stylized elephant or crimson tide logo on it. It pisses me off no end. If it ever happens I will kill kittens until we revert back. We're not some goddamned arena team.

                  • I don't mind alternate jerseys, but in the case of Michigan you might want to stick to tradition. Michigan alternate jerseys are generally an assault on the eyes.

That never stopped me from whining. Besides, it's the old dudes that are the plank holders. You want metallic helmets and cammo unis? Just give in to those that think tradition isn't something worth preserving..... any kind of tradition.

I don't mean to launch into a full-blown philosophical debate about this and I respect your position CGVT, but Michigan and particularly M football are a huge part of forming who I have become.

It too easy to say, no big deal when the foot gets in the door and changes start to take place. Usually, once they do, it's hard to stop the avalanche of change that ensues.

I'm not against change. Stop changing, adapting, you die. Some of it may be good but, in this particular case, it's not. Michigan, Michigan football and the associated symbols (the block M, maize and blue) stand for something beyond ourselves, more important than well, the kids like cammos and metallic helmets so lets do it or worse we can make money on this. This guy says it better than I could:

                        Traditions Matter

Traditions represent a critical piece of our culture. They help form the structure and foundation of our families and our society. They remind us that we are part of a history that defines our past, shapes who we are today and who we are likely to become. Once we ignore the meaning of our traditions, we?re in danger of damaging the underpinning of our identity.

Tradition contributes a sense of comfort and belonging. It brings families together and enables people to reconnect with friends.

Tradition reinforces values such as freedom, faith, integrity, a good education, personal responsibility, a strong work ethic, and the value of being selfless.
Tradition provides a forum to showcase role models and celebrate the things that really matter in life.

Tradition offers a chance to say ?thank you? for the contribution that someone has made.

Tradition enables us to showcase the principles of our Founding Fathers, celebrate diversity, and unite as a country.

Tradition serves as an avenue for creating lasting memories for our families and friends.

Tradition offers an excellent context for meaningful pause and reflection.
As leaders, role models, and parents, we must strive to utilize every opportunity available to us to reinforce the values and beliefs that we hold dear. The alternative to action is taking these values for granted. The result is that our beliefs will get so diluted, over time, that our way of life will become foreign to us. It?s like good health. You may take it for granted until you lose it. If we disregard our values, we?ll open our eyes one day and won?t be able to recognize ?our world? anymore. The values that support the backbone of our country, our family, and our faith will have drifted for so long that the fabric of our society will be torn.

                        • M already has used or currently does use a mild amount of metallic flakes in it's maize wings on their helmets. You have to see the authentic helmets up close but the metallic flakes are in them.

                              • Yeah, I don't see why ya'll old fogies have to get worked up over alternate uniforms worn for 1 road game per season. It's not like the tradition is being abandoned.
