Thanks, Entropy.
It wasn't alcohol. That's what I get for supposing.
Purely a matter of consent and credibility. And with the University, it only has to be 50.1% either way.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

At a quick glance the attachment to the report is pretty damning. Based on the standards set forth by the University with respect to violations of the Code of Student Conduct, seems to me there is no question the expulsions are justified.
Unless I'm not reading something correctly, I don't think this is an out of control university acting at the behest of feminists behind Title IX.
The kind of shit described in the docs that E linked to is exactly the kind of shit that ought to be exposed and carry significant penalties when it is and when due process is followed in exposing and punishing perpetrators ...... looks to me like the U did a pretty good job here.
The football team protesting the U's actions look to me like they are out to lunch on this one.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

I wonder how much the players protesting really knew about her side of the story. I'd suspect they were listening to the suspended players and thinking this was unfair.Grammar... The difference between feeling your nuts and feeling you're nuts.

This article hits at players feeling targeted and lacking trust in the EOAA.
I am very worried about by cousin, who is going to be running D1 track next year...she is red meat for this perverted sexual culture in modern athletics. I wish she'd go someplace without a football program, but she's headed toward a lower-tier P5 at this time.

From the link above:
I contend these football players felt as if they all were in Hewitt?s cross hairs from the time her e-mail ? with its wide-ranging accusations based on little evidence ? surfaced as a major news story.
The Gophers? protest could be as simple as their conviction that 10 teammates never had a chance with Hewitt and her staff of advocates. There is e-mail evidence from July 2015 to support that theory.
Immaterial.
(1) The standard for criminal conduct (sexual assault/rape) is different than the standard for breaking the Student Code of Conduct.
(2) In the case of the U's Student Code on these matters, I don't have a problem with them. Feminist driven? I don't see that and I do see a need in the University setting to protect female students from the exact kind of male behaviors that were described in the accusations.
While the author of the linked article says he's "not judging," he is. If I read his intent correctly, he's coming down on the side of the expelled students or at least questioning motivation of accusers in this case. He's off base.
Criminal conduct? I don't know state law in Minnesota on these matters but if you trust the DA's office, and I'm not tuned in politically enough to know if they are trustworthy or not, they didn't think there was evidence to charge the players and passed on it.
I think that is quite typical of law enforcement when it comes to overlapping jurisdictions (local v. U). They'll tend to pass it back to the U unless there is egregious conduct that will stand up to tough scrutiny in criminal court. Seems local law enforcement thought there was sufficient doubt about whether the accuser actually did not consent. They decided not to charge and prosecute. Passed it back to the U and they backstopped it and cleaned up.
Think about this, a sexual crime of no less than that of Jerry Sandusky's except in the number of times and extent of Sandusky's crimes, in comparison to how PSU handled things.
Good on the Gophers.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

The article, imo, is saying that the 2105 email created some bad feelings.. the team interpreted it as an attack on all of them.. Fast forward and their bias is the 10 guys are not getting due process. Hence their protest. That's how I read it. I don't think it's as much about what happened in 2016 but about a lack of trust created the year before.
I'm not suggesting their right or wrong, or agreement, only the author believes they are not standing up for rape, but rather a concern about the EOAA. I guess I can understand a lack of trust if you feel you were blindly associated with something previously. I know in college all the fraternities and their members received notes about behavior and no tolerance based upon one fraternities actions. Certainly felt we were targeted for doing nothing but being a fraternity. And our alumni felt the same way.. But that is much different than rape. And their protest was presented or interpreted as support of the 10 guys and against the victim, at least initially.
(and I don't have anymore details on the 2105 email other than what is said in the article..)Last edited by entropy; December 17, 2016, 02:11 PM.Grammar... The difference between feeling your nuts and feeling you're nuts.

probably would help reading the article.. unless you have insight that the 2015 letter was due to a drunken gangbang..Last edited by entropy; December 17, 2016, 01:52 PM.Grammar... The difference between feeling your nuts and feeling you're nuts.
