      • Maryland is bring in some pretty good talent, a B1G step up from where they were in the ACC. We'll see it on the field in another year or two...

PSU is bringing in the type of talent they should be.

              • According to Dan Murphy:

Harbaugh says rumors come from coaches trying to affect recruiting. "You know the top three I'm talking about. We know them as jive turkeys"
The top three? Who do you think he's talking about?

Because most of the "coach X to Y" stuff comes from agents trying to leverage more money. Second would be bloggers trying to make a name for themselves or to get clicks.

New staff appears to be much better, but yes, it has been a problem.

                  • Minnesota suspends like...10 players?! And they had such a great shot at beating Washington State!

University of Minnesota officials announced the indefinite suspension of ten Gophers football players Tuesday night.

                    • Looks like the Goofers are in trouble. 10 players suspended for an incident involving a female student.

Four of the 10 were suspended earlier in the season while police investigated the incident. All were reinstated when the DA decided not to press charges. However, a Title IX complaint has been filed by the University's Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action. And now 10 kids are suspended.

Guilty until proven innocent. It's the progressive way. I can't wait for Trump to correct some of this DOJ nonsense. Can't wait.

                      • Yep.

This Title IX thing with regard to sexual assault has probably ruined more lives of the accused than it has protected women. However, I don't think fixing this is high on the Trumpster's list of swamp draining activities, do you?
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                        • I think a number of folks who value process and fairness are adamantly opposed to the DOJ's approach to Title IX (on two fronts). Moreover, it's the DOJ's two "Dear Colleague" letters and attendant threat of DOJ investigation that has, in some cases, forced Universities to adjudicate sexual assault matters. They needed to juke the stats. One in Five!!!!

Trump's DOJ can easily undo both "Dear Colleague" letters. At that point, Universities are free to act as they see fit -- hopefully most will revert to rational behavior. He could affirmatively push them there with a "Dear Colleague" letter of his own OR by challenging an expulsion on grounds of deprivation of a property interest without due process of the law. I think the latter is a loser, though.

So, there are things he can easily do -- removing the threat of DOJ action if you elect to follow fair, process-based procedures is a good start.

                          • People are incarcerated every single day in every single state where they rot away awaiting trial. Talk about suffering at the hands of "guilty until proven otherwise" Contrary to popular belief the concept of "presumed innocent until proven guilty" applies solely at trial--not in any pretrial stage. In Michigan those charged with a felony are entitled to a preliminary hearing where the only burden that the prosecutor must show is that 1) a crime has been committed and 2) there is "probable cause" to believe the defendant committed the crime. There is no "presumption of innocence" at a preliminary hearing.

                            • Correct. And they're able to "stay" that punishment with bail. And when they ARE tried the heavy burden of proof is on the State.

Neither is applicable to Universities. I happen to think Universities ought not be in the business of adjudicating criminal matters. Cheating? Sure. Murder? No. Rape? No. We have a system for those matters.

                              • If you took only the OSU commits ranked outside the top 50 nationally and added two obvious Ohio kids -- Jaylen Harris and Thayer Munford -- that group of 10 would ranked 5th in the B10, comfortably ahead of MSU and Nebraska.

If you removed OSU's 5* commits then it's class of 11 would be 2nd in the B10. If you factored in Black (today) and gave OSU Harris and Munford then OSU would still be 2nd, but less than 4 points back.
