  • If just one of those field goals they settle for is a touchdown, different game... If just one of those 4th and shorts is stuffed, fumbled, etc.; very different ending.

Sure, but I didn't get the sense that OSU dodged a bullet or anything. There should have been no reasonable expectation that they weren't gonna be able to convert on those fourth-and-shorts, as they were doing just fine controlling the LOS. And OSU's red-zone defense combined with Wisky's red-zone offense didn't give me the feeling that Wisky left points on the board. Maybe they should have tried to go for it on one of those fourth downs, but I wouldn't have expected them to convert. IMO, yes, settling for FGs killed them, but I don't think that was the wrong call. If they'd have gone for it on some of those fourth downs then I think OSU wouldn't have needed OT to get the win.

    • Sort of an ugly win for Urbz, haven't seen much of that. osu deserved the W though, that's for sure. Im glad they will be undefeated when Harbaugh rolls into the cesspool.

          • Darrell Hazell fired.
So begins the Les Miles to Purdue talk from dreaming Purdue fans. I'd be happy with PJ Fleck or Ken Niumatalolo.
Based on mustaches, it will probably be Don Brown or Brock Spack.
OR will Purdue pick from the Harbaugh tree (Drevno, Fisch, Brown).

$2 to $3 million at most per year is the budget.

            • I could see musical chairs being played with some of the coaches ostensibly on the hot seat. Good example last season was Richt to Miami with Kirby Smart taking over at UGA albeit Smart was an OC. Miles, Strong and I wouldn't be surprised to see Kelley looking for a job either. The experiment in Eugene may be over too with the outrageous hire of Brady Hoke as DC that might sink Helfrich. Others? Contract pay-outs stopping this sort of thing from happening?

I cannot explain how elated I am over the fact that M, for the foreseeable future, is done with that.

              • Purdue-a shit job with shit pay and shit facilities and a fan base that can't even be swayed with beer sales during the game. Gee maybe you can get Herman if Les won't take the job.

                  - $2 to $3 million per year head coach budget.
                  - Attendence is very cyclical at Purdue
                  - New facilities http://www.purduefootballmasterplan.com
                  - lol Herman to Purdue. Good sarcasm
                  - Yes, there hasn't been success at Purdue. Danny Hope and Darrell Hazell were terrible head coaches. Brady Hoke-like.

                    • Stan, I was at that game still thinking, neh hoping, RR was the coming of Christ for M football, Manna from heaven. I think you know how long I held on to the notion that RR was going to be a good M HC. That game pretty much killed it

...... the bowl game where MIssissippi State took M to the woodshed while disinterested M coaches, including Rich Rodriguez, let M players dangle at the end of a noose that they created for the M football program.

It was at that point, after we knew he'd get fired, that Rodriguez was highly unlikely to succeed any where he went. He's proving that at Arizona just like Brady Hoke is proving his utter incompetence at Oregon.

Then Danny Hope rubbed it in DickRods nose after the game face to face. Dark days

That would have been 2008 I believe... Justin Siller randomly had a time at QB. He was mainly a big WR at Purdue.
2009 was Danny Hope's first year and the QB that beat Michigan was Joey Elliot. That's the first Purdue game I watched when I realized I would go to Purdue as a student. Awkward game as a Michigan fan.

My Purdue media people are saying Purdue will check out the "bigger names" like Les Miles first. Then once they realize that won't happen it will go to the assistants at OSU or Michigan.
Schiano, Warinner, Fickel, Drevno, and Fisch.

                            • 1. P.J. Fleck, Western Michigan: This whirling dynamo is the best thing to happen to the MAC since Terry Bowden. Sure, he's a rah-rah guy. And his motivational stuff is, well, different. Fleck is 23-10 since starting 1-11 with the Broncos in 2013.

                              2. Les Miles, free agent (ex-LSU coach): Crazy Les has told people privately and publicly he wants to coach. For this Ohio native with Big Ten roots, Purdue would be a comfy landing spot.

                              3. Troy Calhoun, Air Force: Calhoun would be interested. The long-time NFL assistant has peaked in the Mountain West. Don't be fooled by the Falcons' option attack. Calhoun is experienced with any offense.

                              4. Jeff Brohm, Western Kentucky: Bobby Petrino's successor in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Brohm is 24-10 in two-plus seasons and won the Conference USA title last year.

                              5. Rod Carey, Northern Illinois: Coached the Huskies to the Orange Bowl a couple of years ago. Oh yeah, and he beat Purdue by 31 in 2013. Possible downside: Carey would be a second straight MAC coach.

                              6. Brock Spack, Illinois State: Joe Tiller's old defensive coordinator has spent eight years in FBS. Blah.

                              7. Mike Sanford, Notre Dame offensive coordinator: Tough sell with the Irish now 2-5, but Sanford, still in his 30s, is well respected and already has future NFL quarterback Deshone Kizer on his resume.
