  • For the conference record in bowls, we now have to depend on the win by Rutgers to offset Illinois.

    ....<Long>....Sigh......

    • This wasn't one of the really good Louisiana Tech teams either. They lost to Old Dominion and Northwestern State for God's sake.

At least Rutgers repped well by dominating a very overhyped UNC team

      • Bowl season started?

        • I agree, JD.

I haven't watched even one complete bowl game. I've watched bits and pieces of others, but none from start to finish.

There aren't any real good matchups that interest me.

I'm watching the early bowl games... I'll watch less starting next week.

I must be in the minority or my friends in the minority... but I watch less CF each year. I really really dislike the direction of CF and ESPN. I'd at NFL to that as well.. the game just is bad, imo.. (and for opposite reasons of CF).

                    • That was a surprisingly entertaining game.

What a career for Sam Ficken...guy went from being a total goat in 2012 to one of the most clutch kickers in the country.

                        • The CMU imitation of the Stanford Band game was excellent. The Chips were getting pounded for 3/4 of the game until coming back. 34 points in the 4th quarter and flubbing the 2 pointer (for the win) with no time remaining. I loved the call to go for the win and not overtime. He-man football amongst lesser teams. CMU gained a level of respect in my book for that one.

                            • B10 currently sits at 2-2. Remaining games:

Maryland +14 vs Stanford (opened at 13)
Wisconsin +6' vs Auburn (opened at 5')
Minnesota +4' vs Missouri (opened at 6)
Michigan State +2' vs Baylor (opened at 1')
Ohio State +9 vs Alabama (opened at 10)
Iowa +3' vs Tennessee (opened at 3)
                              Also...Oregon -9 vs FSU (opened at 7)

It's not surprising to me that the Maryland line got bet up to 14. That seems about right. Can't see it going to the hook, though. Stanford finished up the season with strong defensive efforts against Cal and UCLA. Maryland's offense is poop. Maryland's defense gave up 41 to Champagne Gary Nova. I gotta think Stanford scores 31 and that's enough to cover.

There's no earthly reason to think Wisky will hang within 2 TDs of Auburn. I'll back Auburn all day and twice on Sunday.

The Goofers line is interesting. I wonder what folks see in this game to cause fairly significant move. I was generally down on Mizzou all season, but I thought they played really well in the 2nd half against Arky (even if the Arky QB was crippled). That said, I can see the Goofers hanging around in this one and maybe even winning. I'll take the points.

I think Hoss fairly well summed up the matchup problems MSU is going to have with Baylor, but I still think MSU finds a way to win this game ala their improbable win over TCU a few years ago.

I think the gamblers are having a hard time figuring out Alabama-OSU. It's clear that OSU has yet to play a team comparable to UAT. I think most gamblers think OSU has the talent to play with UAT, but how will they respond to a talent level they've yet to see. Also, can Cardale Jones be trusted? This is one where I think you know within the first 5 minutes of game time. I'm hoping for the best, but in I think the rational bet is to fade Cardale Jones.

It seems to me that I always think Iowa will get pasted and somehow Ferentz manages to get inside the number. With the bump up to the hook, I'm thinking he'll find a way to do it again. I can easily Iowa backdooring the fuck out of this line, so I'll take the points.

Finally, it's interesting to me that FSU is now up to 9 (same as OSU). I really, really, really like FSU in this spot. They certainly don't have the same DL they had last year so they'll give up a lot of points, but I think they score enough to make this a really compelling game and maybe even win. 9 seems like way too much.

                              Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.
