Against the weak quarterbacks of college football, the cover 2 is not really a good base defense. It's best at defending the deep routes only the better QB's can make.

Some thoughts on last week:
* Following up on MAC Cupcakes. Buffalo loses 70-13 to Baylor. Central Michigan rallies to nip New Hampshire 24-21. UMass loses to Maine at home, 24-14. Western Michigan loses to Nicholls State, 27-23. The MAC is horrendous. NIU is good. BG is probably good. Toledo is probably decent. Not sure about Ball State. I am sure the rest of league is absolute filth.
*Purdue is horrid. I don't ordinarily look too much at comparative scores unless they're massive in difference. Purdue edges an Indiana State team that the Hoosiers beat by 38. Illinois wallops a Cincinnati team that destroyed Purdue. Horrible team.
*Speaking of Illinois, nice win. That'll learn you make the Illini 7 and the hook dogs at home to an AAC team!
*Michigan State and Iowa aren't good. MSU's offense is unwatchable. I'd rather watch Blaine Gabbert lead the Jags. Iowa is just total meh to uggh everywhere. Their offense is marginally better than MSU's and the defense worse.
*Minnesota actually traveled to Las Cruces. Disgraceful. That game, however, highlights the folly in 1 game analysis. Last week UT fans were giddy after ripping NMSU 56-7. Would they have been so giddy had they seen the Aggies get plowed at home by the Goofers? Probably not. That still wouldn't have prepared them for the worst performance of the season by any team. MSU offense >>>> UT run defense.
*At the end of the week, 5 B10 teams in the top 20. this could be huge if they can keep it going. They need to all inch their way up into the top 15 and then avoid losing to inferior conference opponents. Then they might actually be able to claim they "beat each other up"!
*P12 Battles. In order to keep their ranked teams ranked, they're going to have beat P12 teams. Nebraska hosts UCLA. If they win that, they should be undefeated when they host Illinois. Speaking of which, Illinois plays Washington in Chicago. If the Illini can get a win, they should break into the top 25 and set up a top 25 "showdown" with UNL. Ohio State goes to Cal. Not much to be said here. And finally, Wisconsin goes to Arizona State. If they can win that game, they should be undefeated when they visit Columbus.
*Penn State has a tricky game against a solid UCF team. PSU isn't good enough to win this game playing poorly. This will be a battle. A win for PSU should see them off to a 4-0 start and possibly undefeated when they host M.
*NW and M should cruise through the rest of the OOC.
*What I think will happen? Nebraska will beat UCLA. I think they're on their way to 7-0 when NW comes to town. Wisconsin will get buried by Arizona State. Ohio State will beat Cal, but the defense will give up too many points. And I like Illinois to upset Washington for absolutely no good reason.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

Nebraska had a good first half but looks like Week One now...have given up 28 unanswered points and down 31-21
Jerry Kill had yet another seizure during Minnesota's game. It might not be fair or diplomatic to talk about it, but at what point does his condition begin to prevent him from doing his job?
