...and henceforth, any program that covers up a criminal or unethical act by anyone even obliquely associated with athletics is thus subject to NCAA sanction? Do you have any idea the mess that will stir up?

And who decides what acts are unethical enough to merit sanctions? Or what qualifies as unethical in the first place? Some nameless, faceless NCAA bureaucrat?

I don't know how that effects the BIG schedule or the CCG. Maybe all games against PSU are considered forfeits? I know that would hurt those that don't have Penn State on their schedule this year but maybe one year of inconvenience is a worthy sacrifice of money and victories. Michigan would be one of those teams that wouldn't get the bonus win..

It's better than a "bonus win" for Michigan. The mere thought of having to host, or visit, Penn State this year is revolting. The contempt that PSU has generated and maintained could make for some rather ugly Saturdays this fall.

I don't know what to make of this. Jim, it's a little late don't ya think ..... that's my gut reaction: Too Little too Late. But, whatever.

This could just be posturing. They may be serious in the long run because these knuckleheads will talk about it for a year before putting anything in stone. I wonder if this isn't about leverage, forcing PSU out of it's denial/forterss mentality and pushing them along to take serious action themselves.

I think its for future cases so the Big Ten can decide for itself what would be appropriate sanctions and not have to rely on the NCAA. This approach is the same used by the NFL giving the Commish all the power to act.

Minor kudos to Wisconsin. I hear they've scheduled a home-and-home with BYU. It's give them games against both Arizona State and BYU in 2013. I've heard that the Badgers are looking to start scheduling better than they have thanks to the new playoff system possibly hurting them in the SOS dept.
