      • They'll have basketball for a while since they were smart enough to control the championship tournament. They let Tostitos and ESPN crown the football champion which was dumb as hell but we're talking about the NCAA....

        • Correct. The NCAA still controls the hoops tournament...they do not control The Football Playoff.

In the end, both Harbaugh and Michigan will be fine.

Harbaugh is still a rich man, he has a national title, and he has a great job in a great location.

Michigan's football program is in the hands of a good man in Sherone Moore. The NCAA will still be a PITA for Michigan, because everything they do will be under a microscope, but that's just how its going to have to be until the NCAA finally implodes.

                    • They should really just be striving to stay relevant...

                      • I mean he obviously broke the rules -- real recruiting rules -- and then denied it. But, it's good y'all are in getting in some practice nailing yourself to the cross. Gonna come in handy.

                        • The NCAA will be gone in 5y, outside chance it might last 6y. The B10 and SEC, the heavy hitting conferences with political and monetary leverage, are already moving toward super conferences akin to the AFC/NFC model, if not glacially, with scheduling and broadcast contracts complicating a more rapid transition to that model. The rest of the 100 or so CFB teams will just have to hang on and try to stay relevant. Minor league that is a pool of players for the majors?

The only people this show cause announcement means anything to are M's traditional rivals. My sense is that M will have nothing official to say about this or will they act. M may crank up some of their mouth pieces to say something but that's about it.

If the NCAA tries to link Moore into this, I'd hate to see Warde not defend him but there is a risk that if the NCAA moves on Moore, M will turtle as they seem to do in these matters.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                          • Let's say this again to be really clear -- HARBAUGH!!!!! knew the rule about COVID dead period contact existed; flaunted it; denied he flaunted it and then challenged the NCAA to do anything about.

                            Totally fitting punishment.

And here were are....stepping into REPEAT OFFENDER territory.

                            Get your nails handy, boys.

If this punishment is the best that they can do for breaking 'real recruiting rules', then I'm not the least bit concerned about what they'll do in the 'spy' matter.

All they did is lock the door behind a coach that is long since departed. At age 61, I doubt that Harbaugh wanted the door left ajar to come back at some point in the future.

I suppose he still could, once the NCAA loses control of major college football, but he won't.
