In case you don't recognize the San Diego Chargers head coach (right side of the M flag in the pic) Jim Harbaugh, that's him at the 4th of July Coronado CA, July 4th Celebrations. Wearing an M cap and Khakis gear. The whole story is below. Not spectacular but M fans love this guy and this guy loves Michigan.

Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

My M-Alumni son got a letter from the M Ticket Office offering some special discounts for alumni and their friends for the Arkansas State game. He said that one entire section is being given to U-M Flint to fill up with family and friends. I guess Arkansas State isn't bringing many fans.
Anyway, my son wants me to go to that game with him. I may go, but if I do I'll have to park in the Pioneer lot. I can't make the walk from Scio Church Road anymore. My knees won't take it."in order to lead America you must love America"

Seems like we’re getting closer to seeing who was right. I haven’t and won’t comment on M’s “issues” since I signed off oon that issue last year — but my disagreement with certain M fans over what was coming is on record. And I think we’re getting closer to seeing how that disagreement settles.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

That said, I don’t think M is gonna agree to what NCAA thinks is appropriate, so maybe not that soon. I also think this is obviously coming from M. I’d reckon they need to prep folks and leaking NOA is decent way to let folks know they might be proper fucked.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Dirtiest cheating coach in modern college football gets hits with a 4 year show-cause. And this still has nothing to do with the sign-stealing program he oversaw.

So, pretty much what happened with all this silliness is that Harbaugh left for the NFL, and the NCAA has locked the door back to CFB behind him. Which is what they wanted all along. I don't think Harbaugh ever wanted a portal back to Michigan or any other CFB team. So its a wash.
My opinion of Coach Harbaugh is unchanged. He's a great coach, a great person, and Michigan is better for having him as our HC. No regrets whatsoever. I'd be proud to have him as my next door neighbor.
I can't say the same thing about the yahoos that are in charge of the B1G or NCAA right now. Anyone who thinks that either organization acts in the best interests of college sports is a fool.Last edited by lineygoblue; August 7, 2024, 12:17 PM."in order to lead America you must love America"

When Harbaugh arrived in Ann Arbor, he found a program that was pretty much a laughingstock. Routinely pushed around by the likes of Toledo and Yukon, to mention a couple. There was no toughness, physically or mentally. osu had yearly walkover wins and loved every minute of it. He knew all of that had to change. He rattled the NCAA's cage very loudly when he took advantage of loopholes in the NCAA's "rules" and held mini-camps all over the country, to stir up interest in Michigan football. That got the NCAA's pet conference the SEC all upset, and so the NCAA had to act. Harbaugh had to go.
So, here we are. Then NCAA has shut and locked the door for Harbaugh to ever return to a college football team. I doubt he'll lose any sleep over that. He's not the first guy something like this happened to. When one stops and realizes what the NCAA has their panties in a knot about, .. its like watching children play at recess. In fact, kids playing at recess make more sense than the NCAA in 2024.
I don't regret a thing about Harbaugh and his time at Michigan. He was the right guy at the right time. His time was not filled with tons of championships, but he eventually got the program there, and left it in much better shape than when he arrived. He trained up an excellent successor, and left behind a thankful fan base. I'm as proud of him and his accomplishments as our resident osu fans are about the accomplishments of Jim Tressel and Urban Meyer. I see no difference.
Best thing that can come from all this is for the P5 schools to eventually band together and form another football organization, make sensible rules, and let the NCAA die the death it deserves.

Successful coaches who tell them to get fucked when they come sniffing around about a lunch tab, yes. Then they wanted like 6,000 personal emails and his lawyer told them to get fucked, too. Then they threatened to suspend him because they wouldn't comply with an outrageous demand that not even the DOJ could make. So, yeah. Fuck the NCAA sideways. Can't wait til it's dead.
