FWIW, Ohio has the highest Amish population in the country according to the most recent census. Just passed Pennsylvania, who is a lot more well known for them. Their population is rising fast since they don't do birth control and are encouraged to have large families.

Putting this in its proper thread for a moment ...

I honestly don't care what anyone thinks, be they a Michigan fan, or a fan of another team.

For over a decade, I have participated in this forum, and never, ever resorted to name calling when making a point. I've never personally attacked any contributor or demeaned them personally, for anything they have said.

Recently Mr Talent Esq. has resorted to using a "tame" word in insulting me, when responding to my posts. When I saw the insult, I deleted the post. He has repeated to do so, and I have deleted more of the same posts.

I return from a road trip yesterday, and I see that Mr Talent has stated that he intends to continue using the term to insult me whenever he feels the need to do so.

Therefore, I intend to delete each and every post that he decides to do so.

If that's a problem for anyone, .. tough. I'm not taking a poll to see who approves or disapproves. Approve? Good. Disapprove? Tough.

We've lost WAY too many fine Michigan fans as contributors here, because of crap like this. I could name names, but we all know who we've lost. I miss ALL of them, and I'm sorry that as a moderator, I haven't done more to try and keep these people involved.

I can't do anything to bring those people back, but I can do something about CRAP that is directed toward me. Especially when I have refrained from doing the same to the one who is now doing it to me.

So, I'll continue to delete any offending post that directs insulting names toward me. If anyone else is offended by CRAP that is posted toward them, please let me know, and I'll remove any offending posts immediately.

I am done with having to go over all this several times a year. It stops now, or I will be the next to leave. I just don't have time for this anymore.

I'm with you 100 percent on this, Liney .

While it takes a lot more than certain words such as "retard " and "moron" to offend me, I Do take exception to offensive attitudes that derail discussions and turn things in a mean-spirited direction. While a lot of off-color posts are made here that are not exactly G-rated I don't think anyone has any problem with that stuff whatsoever. When it turns personal in the form of intentionally mean-spirited insults, it "crosses the line" into something that can't be ignored by me and/or any other moderator that understands what kind of "place " we would like this U of M Forum to be. Yeah, it's a sports forum and most that come here or to ANY such forum know you have to have a somewhat "thick" hide due to the very nature of sports and competition.

We have (as Liney said) lost many regular posters over the years. i don't know the specific reason/ reasons on most who have disappeared, but with those who have given any of us mods "exit interviews ", easily the #1 reason given ends up being related to insults, bickering, and other related juvenile misbehavior /nonsense that makes them feel that they have better things to do with their time.
