I think we all get that, in this forum anyway. less moderation benefits dialogue and decreases meltdowns. I'm convinced mods need to agree on and then clarify what gets moderated and how. Well work on that in the days ahead taking the input to date into account and publish what we come up with. Less is more IMO. No need to continue with the recriminations. Mods can and will do a better job here.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. Not sure how the shoe is on the other foot, maybe you'll explain that to me a bit more sometime. I've never told anyone here to go sodomize their friend.
I never expected your support in this, and you've made it clear where you stand. It is what it is."in order to lead America you must love America"

"The point is that Stan is a symptom of those who cannot deal with conflict or contradiction. I've been reading this discussion, and I could have predicted those who would be in favor of "banning" and those who oppose it."
I"m sorry Geezer. You must have missed my point (but then again what else is new) I'm for keeping Talent and banning you! (Actually what else I said was that Talent's comment was less derogatory than yours and I wasn't for banning anyone, ESPECIALLY YOU! I'm a big boy. I can stand up for myself. Especially to your lame attempts at "humor".
You seem to have conveniently forgotten the following quote WHICH YOU POSTED that states:
"(Nor am I asking that he (Geezer) be banned. His outrageous posts merely enforce the fact that he is incapable of carrying on a cogent discussion without stooping to name calling of the basest nature.)"Last edited by UMStan White; September 5, 2016, 02:30 PM.

Hey, I have a simple solution: Lets all act like adults. Readjust our filters. It's a little infantile to see posters crying that so and so is treated differently that so and so. Everybody gets some latitude here, some push the envelope. I would STRONGLY suggest that people post here with a new perspective: imagine that 10 year olds read this board because it is a source of UM sports history/knowledge/observations that happens to be second to none. Witty insults and droll observations are all well and good but keep it PG. And don't get personal. Repeatedly.
I really wish our out of state posters would come up for a game. Face to face breaks all barriers. Many years ago, Jeff and I used to verbally joust over politics, ours (at that time) being diameterically opposed. It became razor sharp sophistry at its most cutting. We wound up sharing a few beers at a tailgate and gained a respect for one another. I consider Jeff to be a friend, good enough that if he needed assistance for something, I would jump on a plane the next day. Such is the power of face to face.
And our beloved Stan, who many people cite. He looks like Santa without a beard. His sharp tongue is aways present. But when he says something in his usual caustic manner, it's always accompanied with a deep chuckle and warm smile. You know there is no poison on that edge. Those that know Stan understand this. Those who haven't met him, well, I can see how he can and does come across. Point is, I wish this whole board would meet up for a game. Best therapy in the world.
About Talent. As I said above, I've moderated twice, the last time betweent Stan and Talent. I changed the wording in their messages to make them look foolish, as a message. I also sent an email to Stan off-line about the behavior, because I know him. I did not send an email to Talent - first off, I believe he got the point of my action and second I did not want to chastise someone I haven't met in an off the board manner. I (obviously mistakenly) thought things had been resolved.
One thing thats nice about this board is that moderators can disagree amongst each other. One mod does not over rule any of the others. We can agree or disagree but we haven't stepped on another's toes. I would recommend that Talent and Liney settle it off line - if that's an option. But what was a difference in opinion has, over time, gotten personal, and thats a no-no. You reap what you sow. And nobody wants to hear the martyr schtick.
Its the personal bullshit that is causing others, like AA, to bail out. The Michigan fans here can take the jabs and mocking as we have had fans of other schools reside here (Iowans, Sparties, Nebraskites, Spoilerfakers, VTians, osu'ers to name a few). But as a guest, you should remember you're in someone else's house. Fart if you must, but please don't throw the food.Last edited by Ghengis Jon; September 5, 2016, 02:56 PM.“Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Maybe everyone hates talent because they haven't met him.
I've met him.
I still hate him.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

I may indirectly opine on M in, e.g., the SEC thread by saying, e.g., Alabama is better than any team in the B10. But that'll be as far as it goes.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. Jon:
Well said. FWIW, liney and I are way too far apart. That isn't likely to ever be resolved. I've said all I want say on the topic. My approach going forward is to avoid interactions with folks who dislike me, including, those voting to ban me. I figure if I stay off M threads none of posts will get deleted so I'll have no reason to take issue.
AA left because he thought I was banned. He will come back when he learns that's not the case. He absolutely didn't bail out for any sort of petty personal stuff.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Well, I enjoy the reparte'.
I learned a long time ago to get my facts straight when I post on the internet. Don't post stupid stuff that is obviously assailable and have fun.
Guess how I learned that?Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Talent-
Thats kind of at odds with the email I exchanged with AA. He's leaving because he finds the personal tone that has recently reared its head here is repellent. And if its so bad that people are getting banned, he's not sure he wants to be around. Yes, you and him go back and he acknowledges that. He likes this board for all the reasons that it is superior to other internet forums.
I simply request that the personal stuff be consciously stopped. Before anyone hits "Post Quick Reply" I hope that they re-read what they've written. That's what I'm doing. Geezer and I got a verbal run in. We've publically exchanged apologies and put it behind us. Doubt if an issue is going to happen again. Just thought I'd put forth an example.“Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.” - Groucho Marx
