      • Here's some technical information about Liney's report. He says it was a polyp, that is, it was apparently growing outward into the lumen of the colon, not into the wall. IOW, it was an "exophytic" growth and any malignant change would have very low probability of early spread into the system. If it was growing into the wall, IOW an endophytic growth, also called a sessile polyp, the risk of spread into the system would have been far greater. So I would say Liney is now cured of this particular lesion. Colon polyps are extremely common, and they are often pre-malignant. It makes good sense to start getting colonoscopies by age 45 or 50 and earlier if there is a family history of colon cancer.

And if you've had polyps in the past there is likelihood of more to appear in the future. So stay in touch with your gastroenterologist.

My oldest son just turned 36, and I told him that I will be his driver for his colonoscopy at AGE 40. I'm going to bug him until he does it. I will have a follow up colonoscopy sometime in January-February. And if more polyps are found, I'll have one every year until it comes back clean.

            • Sure is.

Thanks for the visit, Jon. Just knowing you were there and asking about me brightened my day just a bit more. My family appreciated you being there as well.

              • ....... But did Mrs. Linesman appreciate the porn?

                • Hahah....

I think Jon must have given my wife the wrong stack of magazines. All I ended up with was a New Yorker, a Time Magazine and one other ...

I think if he would have handed her porn, she would have rolled it up and smacked him over the head with it ... :-)

                    • Liney, I'm a bit late here as I have not checked this thread lately. Going back to your first post….I'm glad that you are where you are now. I wish you a speedy recovery and continued good health in the future.

                            • That's good to hear.

Some here know I'm a colon cancer survivor. A routine colonoscopy saved my life. Wish more people would get checked.

                              • That's exactly what happened to me, AA. A routine stool sample during my yearly physical got my doctor to INSIST to me that I get the colonoscopy. That's when my cancer was found. I was very fortunate that the cancer had not spread. Had I waited another 6 months to a year, it might have been a different story.

I'm a huge advocate of colonoscopies now. They're easy, and can give you life saving information.
