For what its worth ...... I thought Linesman's initial intent was good: keep selected threads on topic, the others, its whatever. Just to refresh:

As some of you may have noticed, some of the threads related to Michigan sports teams have been "pinned" to the top of the forum, and now have a green circle with an arrow next to them. These threads have been designated as PROTECTED conversations. Meaning that, these threads are going to be closely monitored and moderated by the Forum hosts. These threads are to be kept on topic at all times. We are asking all participants to respect this new policy, and keep all comments on topic.

The purpose of these rules was to eliminate, in certain threads, a user's requirement to plow through 16 back and forth off topic sass or flame posts ...... at least that's how I understood it and have managed my delete key.

I like the humor too, Hack, I think there is a place for it but in doing my job as a mod, I have my limits. I suppose that's a problem in that one mod's limits may be different than another's.

All things considered, I think its a better place when a good deal of the off topic, back and forth stuff in the designated threads is kept to an absolute minimum. That is what I will endeavor to do.

I didn't even notice this but the Admin Forum wasn't marked as no off topic BS. So, it would seem posting the idea of "kicking vaginas" was perfectly OK. I just changed it to a restricted designation. Can't imagine we need off topic sass and flame posts in that particular thread. I also unstuck the gloves off anything goes thread as it is superfluous if I can say:

Fuck osu in the osu thread or little brother in the MSU thread or ....... well, Nebraska is a wasteland of nothingness in the Neb thread!

I've resigned myself to the fact that this is no longer a Michigan forum. It is a group of Michigan folks who speak at the permission of ohio fans. Everything written must pass their inspection and approval, or there's a price to pay.

I've tried to keep this forum as a place for Michigan fans to come in and talk about U-M sports topics, without interference from outside influences.

I obviously failed.

Therefore, I'll be just an occasional participant, and allow the ohio folks here to run the place as they see fit.

That should solve all the problems here very nicely.

That's a bit too fatalistic, but there is something there. Truth is that this has devolved into a forum that Talent is directing and nobody besides Buchanan can keep up with. Yeah, it's a public forum and it always comes back to being "on topic" but that's beside the point. It's just not as much fun being in conversations that are dominated by two parties and one of them is obsessed with undermining everything that is brought into discussion. People haven't bailed because they're too busy or because of occasionally juvenile exchanges. They've left because Talent is such an ass.

Well, clearly, he is a complete ass (and this is on topic) but I want to provide a counter point.

Generally, when you post on an internet forum of any kind you better be able to defend a position and not get all butt hurt when you can't. You put up shit and someone calls you on it that's the price you pay for putting it up. You're gonna get humbled.

Now if talent's capacity to humble any number of posters here now and again because their facts are wrong, their argument is stupid or in that post there are any number of cracks to be exploited, learn to not make stupid, exploitable posts.

Maybe that is running the forum but if it means the elimination of factually incorrect, stupid, indefensible or illogical posts, I'm all for it.

As I have said many times, in a dual, talent tends to aim his pistol right between his opponent's eye balls. Gentlemen fire quickly and first so as to bring the ball as close to the opponent's ear as possible making it painfully obvious that I could kill you ..... if I chose to.

You should try reading this forum more than rarely. Perhaps you'd have a better sense of reality. In any event, it's a shame you have haven't bailed, though. I guess I need to keep trying.
