I just flushed the toilet. The old osu thread is gone and a new one is in its place. Let the banter worthy of the respective alumni/supporters commence.

You deleted 650 pages and the only truly historical archive thread in this forum? Wow. Today's forum leadership is making George Custer look like Alexander the Great.
I deleted a thread of archaic drivel. Simple housekeeping. In its place is a thread for sparkling wit, astute observations, thoughtful commentary, and in-depth analysis. But don't be intimidated, non-UMers can post there as well.

I'm not as worked up about your presence as others. I find some of your posts interesting and some the ravings of a person raised in the sad state of ohio, thus you're not totally at fault. Your Scarlet and Grey-tainted brain is the result of something similar to the ancient practice of foot-binding, where growth is confined to a small (horse?) shoe. Who can be surprised by mangled toes when this is the case? Not I, sir.
Oh, I also enjoy any references to The Wire.
However, those that are worked up by your posts have given the forum an enema. It looks like I can still gain access to the old thread. If you want to figure out how to retrieve it for your archives, you can send me the step by step instructions and I'll do my best to carry them out.
As I said, the message was entirely received. I anticipate huge contributions from the "lurkers" afraid to post and a huge influx of new contributors over the next few months. Congratulations on the direction of the forum.

Ironically enough, I was looking back through that thread right before annihilation and stumbled across hack's comments on S1E1 (hard to get into) and then your comments about being hooked after the chess scene (which was linked and I viewed).
I guess I don't understand, if one hates everything that was posted in the old OSU thread, is why you just don't click on the thread and read it. I gotta be honest, I hadn't clicked on that thread in weeks. No sweat. That's the reason "threads" exist. Everyone's been here long enough to know that off seasons fucking blow. That thread would be the epitome of off seasons around here.
Have we sunk so low that we are worried about what the PC crowd calls "microaggressions"? Jon, please remember what Lord Acton said "Power tends to corrupt. Absolute power corrupts absolutely." We are now to the point where Talent cannot attack me and I cannot attack him because of imaginary "LURKING" parties who won't join the conversation because they might get their feelings hurt.
HEY, LURKING PARTIES, NOW IS THE TIME TO IDENTIFY YOURSELF BY SIMPLY POSTING YOUR FORUM NAME AND THE PHRASE "I'M LURKING".
We've lost some good people (like Doug D) who provided excellent commentary without all the drama. Some of the lurkers are long time members that I also happen to be acquainted with from tailgates, games, etc. They read the threads, like the recruiting stuff, but when they post something, many times they get abused for their POV. Overly sensitive? Perhaps. But others have emailed (not just to me) and complained about the infantile behavior here. I've been a mod since the WC days and a charter member of the Borg from Freep days. How many times have I ever intervened in the 20 years I've been around? Doesn't that fact give some indication of how things have slipped around here?
I like that opposing views and fans come here. It keeps this place from becoming an echo chamber. But what sets this forum above all others (until recently) is the mature nature of the participants. This ain't some typical internet screech fest.
But people with good opinions and questions dropping off for bad reasons. My actions have gotten participants attention and I hope we can all step back and take a deep breath.
We see this shit every year in the off season. People pick their bears and poke, poke, poke with a stick. CFB season can't come soon enough so we all actually have real time stuff to discuss.
Lets all enjoy this place and not make a mockery of it.

I accept that at face value and have no reason to disbelieve you. I have received the same type of assurance from Stan. I hope we can all just close the book on this and carry on.
And as a response to a message (not from Talent or Stan), I do NOT and will NOT ban anyone. Its only an internet forum for Pete's sake and has no significance in the cosmic scheme of things.

Talent's been an ass for a few months now. He's hearing the footsteps. I'm baffled as to why, when Stan makes a cameo to piss people off, somehow this is the reasonable solution. Now in an ideal world we all read up on lacrosse and ignorance levels drop and problems melt away, but people are people and don't know jack about lacrosse. That's why we need moderation in the first place. I'd like to see you mods settle on some clear rules and enforce them no matter who the poster is. There will be challenges ahead for now that Michigan fans have a reason to talk back.
