    • Don't you have a book to write?

      • Well, I'm just terribly disappointed Talent wasn't banned...and flayed. I'd settle for flayed.

I'm still trying to figure out what went down.

Frankly and it this point, until I see the entire exchange, I'm more in Hack's camp than yours.

I just don't get it. This is a community. The pot gets stirred about differences of opinion, tempers rise, name calling ensues, the whistle gets blown and then we just move on, but this particular issue is about you and talent. Nothing else. We should all be able to move past this kind of thing.

You're a ref. Blow the whistle and move on. Don't stop the game.
I haven't been on here since this latest flare-up.

There just seems like an awful lot of drama and I haven't even read the next few pages.

There are much fewer insults in here than in the Pistons forum and yet it seems like things are more heated in here. Scrolling past or putting somebody on ignore usually works pretty well. Or just taking a break. I stopped reading game threads in here for a while because I found the negativity and bitching was just annoying me. It was enjoyable to step away like that.

As far as Talent goes: yeah, it's a little weird that a buckeye fan (or a fan of any other college team) comes in to post in a Michigan sports forum every day but I don't think he's polluting things too much. That said, I don't read a lot of his posts. If I see a HARBAUGH in his text, I figure he's looking to troll and scroll past. It works quite well.

In general, I'm against banning people. You have to really cross a line and I, personally, haven't experienced or witnessed that with Talent. Maybe you have. I did see that things have devolved a page or two before this and I'd just request you guys try to come to a resolution like rational adults first before one or both of you depart(s) the forum.

            • Screw banning Talent. Ban Hack!

              • I agree with Hack. Mark this date down for future reference.

I do warn you against a bunch of rules and trying to be "fair". There will never be enough rules, and the interpretation of rules just makes subjective decisions be one more added step.

                • IMO we, idiots that we all are, can spot the difference between a personal attack and keeping it to the issues. It can be that simple, I would think.

No, I want consistency. If you ban Talent, then ban others who do the same. I ignore him when he does the whole HARBAUGH! thing. I've learned that nothing matters except what happens on the field. I find him pretty valuable on other occasions. He and Strangelove said some pretty rude/crude things to me when I stood up for Stan the day after MSU beat OSU in the B1G Championship game. I never considered demanding their banishment.

I'll let you ban hate speech when you let me define hate speech.

                    • In one of those most diabolical forum twists of all-time, I actually really like Stan the Internet Persona now. And Geezer, for that matter, though Stan is the all-time most unlikely reversal.

I still detest AA and Bezerklie and their mutual love for Sorrell Booke, Air Supply and each other.

                      • Booke was an educated thespian with degrees from REAL Ivy League schools. He was also a counterintelligence officer for the Army in the Korean War.

Do NOT sleep on Sorrell Booke!

                            • In the next day or two. An Announcment that is placed by the Web Site Owner (Deborah) will appear as a stuck thread at the top of the board. The Announcement contains this Forum's posting rules which I provided to her.

Over the last week, I've taken the input from those who expressed interest in providing it as well as solicited it from several regular posters here. The posting rules reflect a concensus view of what kind of posting rules we should have, how they are enforced and a process by which a poster can challenge any action a moderator might take in enforcing the rules. You won't be surprised by this but the input I received was remarkably consistent among those who provided it.

There are six moderators. They are myself, Jon, JD, Oracle, Hannible and Entropy.
