  • Fully agreed. It's going to happen.

    • It would have occured last year were this system in place. AL was in regardless, as was Okie Lite...that leaves one spot for OR, Stanford and Wiscy. It would have been OR, leaving Big Ten champ Wisconsin out.

      • ...so that being the case...what is the upside to the CCG's??? Nothing. Doesn't seem to be a determining factor. Conferences might be better off not even using a CCG to determine the champion. Can only hurt the highly ranked teams who have a shot at the Top 4. If you really want conferences and CCG's to matter then you have to have major conferences get AQ status into the dance. Otherwise...just have the 121 teams fight for 4 spots and conferences be damned.

        • Any system that does not make winning a conference a prerequisite for entry in the tourney is bogus.

I imagine that Notre Dame would not agree with me however...

This is just the same bullshit with a different name

          • Agree...ent and I have discussed on several occasions about how the Big 12 would be stupid to expand to 12 teams again for that reason. Setting aside the fact there are few good options anyway, having no CCG is a major bonus for them...in this system or the current one.

              • I wouldn't have any objections to any CCG if there was a no rematch rule. I hate that it severely diminishes the value of a regular season game. I can't wait for a 7-5 Indiana team to pull a monster upset and then proceed to get blown out 90-0 in the least watched BCS bowl in history.

I know, I know. This does not align with the entrenched strategy of profit maximization above all else.

                • Revenue agreements are already in place, just not stated publicly. We'll probably find out more when the TV's start bidding on this.

I remember a few years ago when the Big 12 was so imbalanced that a 6-6 Colorado team played undefeated Texas and it was like 63-0 at halftime. That was pretty funny. That said, it's highly unlikely that a 7-5 team would ever sniff a major CCG unless a better team was ineligible like USC in the PAC 12 last year which allowed a pedestrian UCLA team into the CCG.

                    • Why do you insult pedestrians like that?

                        Pedestrian?

                        Try "pathetic" instead.

                            • The way I see it, the horse left the barn a long time ago with regard to the bowl system and their reduced significance. I just want more meaningful games among the best teams and a playoff does that. I probably won't watch the Papa Johns Bowl but I can guarantee I'll watch a national semi-final from the Rose Bowl.
