I would be hesitant to believe that story, except that something was obviously horribly wrong with LSU during that game. Their offensvie game play was idiotic. Jefferson was playing like crap and was completely rattled, yet Lee was never put into the game. It almost defies logic that something bizarre DIDN'T happen, because what was going on on the field really had no explanation. I know Alabama had a good defense, but it was way more than just that.

As for Bama not honoring they scholarship offer to the GA kid, as an "secondary" Alabama fan I am disappointed, but grey shirting isn't exclusive to the SEC.
The new SEC rule keeping all teams to no more than 25 recruits per class is a good step in the right direction, but remember there is no rule requiring a scholarship to be honored all 4 years either.Last edited by whodean; January 17, 2012, 12:26 PM.Atlanta, GA

Grayshirting is fine if your upfront with the kid during his recruitment, Saban wasn't. M with Jeremy Clark was...
If a kid does his best on the field and off, he should never be taken off scholarship; colleges need a good reason to boot a kid from scholarship and just because a kid isn't talented enough at football isn't one. Alabama is one of the very worst offenders at having nearly 95 kids on scholarship at signing day, then somehow finding a way to get to 85 before August. The rule of 25 kids per class isn't much of a detriment, when there are so many ways to get around that rule...
The B10 rule btw is you have to request a waiver (and be granted one) to go over 85 scholarships on signing day and you can only oversign by 3.
