I agree, hitching his wagon to Hoke at SDSU especially at his age suggests to me he has peaked, there are many OC's the game that appear to be in demand. I guess he is also compared to Mattison and what that Genius was able to do with RR's players in just 12 games.

Remember back when RichRod infamously stated that even Vince Lombardi could not fix the disaster that he created and was responsible for on defense, thank God Mattison could.

    • Tough crowd.

Hoke/Mattison/Borges come into Ann Arbor, take over a team whose fight song was changed to a Josh Groban hit, and turned them back into the Michigan Wolverines with a 11-2 record, and a BCS/Sugar Bowl victory, and we're saying that Borges did a bad job!

      Yeesh!

Come on, guys. Give some credit here.

      • My only real complaint with Borges is that he failed to adjust our protections when both MSU and V-Tech figured out ways to blitz effectively and repeatedly.

Not at all, 11-2 is damn MIRACLE. VT was Borges' buzzsaw, a month to prepare, he had no answers or adjustments and there are at least a dozen or so teams that player much better defense than Beamer.

            • Edwin Baker to the NFL. MSU's offense loses most everyone, they'll still have most their defense back.

                  • Great piece by Joe Nocera blasting the NCAA. It's in Friday's Opinion page of the NYT: The NCAA's Justice System. Can't link at work today. Stan and others must read.

                    I hate the NCAA.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                    • Baylor basketball certainly is dirty, there football is helped mostly by a heisman talent in RGIII.

I'm with you, Lines. But that's what we do around here!

Borges can improve, but Denard is just not that good of a QB. I love the kid, I really do, he's the most likable Michigan player I've seen in a long time, but he can't read defenses (therefore missing open WRs consistently) and plays very poorly when pressured and makes terrible decisions that luckily ended up as big plays at several critical moments this year. He's terribly erratic and gets banged up in the run game pretty easily. Borges did what he could with Denard but the kid has his limitations. When pressured by good defenses (msu and VT), Denard was bad. The Oline was bad, too, so it's not all on one guy, to be sure. Iowa was sort of an aberration, I think. Just a poorly played road game all around.

I'll take what I saw in year one. I was predicting 7-5, so I can't complain about the OC or the end result!

                            • I was kinda sour on the rematch, (plus the 06 Michigan osu thing). But after watching so many Bowls and the high scoring - and invisible D's, I don't like it. This is not arena football or whatever you want to call it, the Richrods NWO have almost have taken over college football. Im now glad the two teams in the NC game are known for defense and im really looking forward to it.

And I don't care if they are from the SEC
