I find as time goes on in the Hoke regime, that I am more and more disappointed in myself, that I was opposed to having this fine man as our head coach. And I mean every word of that. I used to think that we'd never find someone who could run our program with more class and integrity than people like Lloyd Carr, Gary Moeller and Bo Schembechler. I think Brady Hoke not only meets that standard, I believe he exceeds it in many ways."in order to lead America you must love America"

I think only Bo belongs on that list, and I don't think it's worth beating yourself up over. All we could really know about the guy is that it was a nepotistic hire and all we could do is take the word of several entitled and not-so-honorable program alumni that he was a deserving candidate. It made sense back then that he would be able to negotiate the cultural minefield in Ann Arbor, but nobody had any way of knowing that he was going to be such an awesome leader or that the school would suddenly open up and let him spend a bunch on a star coordinator. The difference with Hoke and RR is wide, but a significant percentage of it is how much they got to spend on their staffs.
Overall, I'm absolutely delighted with him. UM got exceptionally lucky. Harbaugh probably would have squeezed out another win in East Lansing, but I'm definitely at the point where I'd prefer 15 years of Hoke to 5 of Harbaugh.

""The first thing we have to do is stop neglecting the fact that there's another school in the state that's a competitor," the Jayhawks' new football coach said by way of an introduction, "and go figure out a way to beat their butts."
Charlie Weiss to the basketball crowd at the game Saturday. His new "To hell with Michigan" mantra. Good luck fatboy!

Luck was very good, but RG3 was incredible this year. I caught a few of his games and he WAS Baylor. Without him, I'm not even sure they were a .500 team.
Congrats to RG3. I'm sure Luck is bummed, but he will feel better come draft day.
On an individual basis, Griffin is the last guy in the country I would want to see suited up against my team.

RG3 is a unique talent. I think he throws a great deep ball and can make the yards with his legs. I also enjoy his interviews. He says a lot of the right things.
I'd rather see nebraska face luck than RG3Grammar... The difference between feeling your nuts and feeling you're nuts.

Jamie,
1. ``Everything written in a book must be true'' is a pretty damn weak excuse for that. Bacon's book isn't the only source. It's just the most comprehensive one. We didn't need it to note LC's exceptional and unbecoming behavior, so what you wrote has no rhetorical power in any way.
2. RR probably would have failed anyways but he would have done better had he been given the resources and support Hoke has been given. Are you gonna deny that?
