  • ..... that would be my view as well.

If it does come to pass that A&M goes to the SEC, Slive will take the conference to 16. He can choose a unaccelerated time frame but the driving factor is going to be broadcasting rights and the conferences contracts/expiration dates ...... I don't know enough about these to comment but they will definitely affect timing of the evolution to super conferences.

Delaney will be right in there with moving the B1G to 16 teams as well. The P10 and the B12 (10) will be scrambling to match the evolution in the SEC and B1G with the B12 on the short end of the stick .... thanks to UT and Beebe.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

    • I don't think Louisville will leave the BE because they care about hoops as much as football. And they have an outside shot at the SEC to boot.

I don't think BYU would do it except now that they are heavily tied to ESPN, who is helping them out a lot scheduling games, they may get squeezed to join and be one of the good Stepford wives.

      • Clemson is the obvious choice to join the SEC if A&M moves, Clemson's culture is very similar to the SEC and it keeps the east/west balance.

        • Clemson screams "SEC school" but they aren't a major addition in terms of market power for the SEC.

          • There aren't many choices for the SEC at this point that add a nice TV market.

            • Agree with DSL... They should be looking to expand their markets; Oklahoma, VT & Missouri are probably more likely.

              • The B12 is finished. Whether it's immediate or in the near future after some ramshackle addition, it's done.

Virginia Tech, IMO would be the SEC's top choice. If they were to add an existing market school, FSU would be #2. I don't see Clemson in the discussion.

And I don't see any Big East school in the discussion.

                • NC would be very high on their wish list, I just don't see them ever leaving the ACC.

                  • COLLEGE STATION – Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe has told Texas A&M that Texas holds the key to the long-term future of the Big 12, and that the Big 12 would survive without the Aggies, according to an A&M official.

Louisville is the only team currently in a BCS conference that would even consider the move.
