In very different ways. Texas is all zone. Notre Dame is all man. Well, "mostly" for each. That's a completely different animal. I don't know if ND has had to check anyone as good as Carnell Tate, let alone Egbuka or Smith.

You know, when I saw Doug in 2022 I told him that CRD is a better coach for the CFP than he is for beating M. I thought his teams were geared more toward beating anyone as opposed to dealing with a specific team. And in 2022 they went into Atlanta and, if every break didn't go Georgia's way (hey, it's football), then they win a national title. Now, I'd never imagine they'd be so bad in 2024 against SHERRONE!!! -- I mean, offensively. The defense was obviously great. But, CRD just seems like more of a "playoff" kinda coach. I dunno.
Fortunately the 12-team thing came around just in time. Otherwise the loss to M would have ended the season and sent them to a bowl where no starters would have played. And he might have been fired.
As it is, they have a chance -- not a great one -- but a chance at a national title.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Day was stupid and proud ( Lou Holtz was still in his brain).
He wanted to run against Michigans strength and be so damn macho! He was a dumb ass no doubt. He should’ve been thrown that ball over the place like he did late in the first half when they only got their only touchdown of the game.
He saved his job last night. Even if he loses to ND he is safe.
They will beat ND.

And their upcoming win will grease the rails toward changing the playoff format. As it should."The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, .. I'd worn them for weeks, and they needed the air"

This is the final sign of the Apocolypse...
The Irish don't have the horses to hang with them for those kind of points. I imagine they'll be tough in the beginning and show lots of emotion, but that doesn't win nattys.
OSU should win going away in the 2nd half. Kind of like they did last night."The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, .. I'd worn them for weeks, and they needed the air"

12 is better than 4 and they’ll work out the stuff that can be better.
M has two NFL first rounders on DL, OSU was really still sorting out OL after 2nd devastating OL injury, Wink knew all this and dared them to run, and OSU played into it. And Howard was not good and the kicking game was absolutely decisive.
Whatever. ND is Tresselball. It’ll be painful.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

If Day and Kelly have early success getting the ball to Egbuka and Smith with a touch of Henderson on play calls or audibles by Howard where ND plays zone, that will establish the character of the game. Big plays and an early lead for OSU with ND trying and failing to pull even with OSU. If they don't scheme for that and execute that scheme, ND is going to determine it's character. That is likely to be a low scoring slug fest.
It's been that simple for OSU with the opponents they've faced in the CFP. Sherrone forced Day into a slug fest, OSU ignored his NFL ready receivers and suffered a costly loss to M, missing out on the BTC in the process and ending OSU's regular season. It appears that OSU in beating, Oregon, Tennessee and now Texas, Day has learned his lessons from the M loss.
OSU 28 - ND 18Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Yeah, USC is the only offense ND has played that is vaguely comparable. And ND doesn’t have M’s talent on the DL. And OSU’s OL part 4 is finally settled. It’s not great, but it’s also not a train wreck.
