  • Not sure if anyone is much of a winner in this Satterfield to Cincinnati deal.

    • I'm 100% sure you're not a winner.

Yeah, not sure what the payday is for Satterfield, but he went from being on the hotseat at the end of his contract to a new 6 (?) year deal.

I think he is a good coach even though the Louisville results don't really bear that out

Edit: looks as if his buyout was 3.5 mil

Satterfield was getting 3.5 per at Louisville. Fickle was getting 5+ at Cinci, so it looks as if it is probably going to be about 1 to 1.5 mil per year pay raise

          • Louisville probably goes after Brohm, right? The timing might be right from the Purdue perspective. 8-4 season (which, is fantastic for Purdue) and a conference championship game appearance. Aidan O’Connell gone. It would be a huge loss.

It’s funny because there’s a large section of Louisville fans that don’t like and mock Brohm. Bitter after being rejected in 2018. Sure they will all welcome Brohm if that’s the choice.

              • Ah, here you go:

Remember Purdue. If Brohm leaves, hire a HC that specializes in coaching the QB. No more Tressel ball. No more underqualified OLine coaches as HC.
Needs to be a fun, QB whisperer.

                • Damn The Transfer Portal is all people are talking about today, so many rumors and facts? It's like it replaced Recruiting.

                  • Pretty much. Sounds like Iowa is vying to be Michigan's B squad next year.

                          • Looks like Louisville's finally landed their guy. I think they've traded up, as far as head coaches are concerned.
The Louisville native and alum returns to his hometown to lead the Cardinals in their next phase.

                            • As expected.
Some people don’t realize how good of a job Brohm did at Purdue. The end of the Tiller era didn’t go well. Danny Hope and Darrell Hazell were a complete disaster. Brohm made Purdue fun and inconsistently competitive. He certainly has his flaws… just look at the Syracuse Purdue game. Ultimately, as good as it gets for modern day Purdue football.

It makes sense considering Louisville is Brohm’s alma mater. Brohm gave 6 quality years to Purdue. Made it to a conference championship game. Helped Purdue create a nice new football facility. A success! The timing feels right and I wish him the best.

Purdue needs to think long and hard about its next head coach. Strong possibility Purdue could go to the basement of the Big Ten considering the other hires in the Big Ten. Also, USC and UCLA coming in 2024.

The next head coach should be young. Energetic. Preferably offensive minded. Another QB guru would be great! My idea is Dallas Cowboys OC Kellen Moore. I believe Boise State had interest in him a few years ago. Moore rejected the opportunity. If Purdue is lucky, add Jim Leonhard as DC. Will note that I’m not familiar with the non-power 5 coaches. I haven’t looked at any lists of candidates.

Stay away from Tressel ball (Darrell Hazell). Stay away from under qualified Joe Tiller look alike OLine coaches (Danny Hope).
