  • Harrison is really, really good. I've been trying to tell people here that he's better than JSN. No one seems to listen. But, Ohio State can't run the ball and they're also crippled on offense w/ no JSN and Miyan Williams. The offense just isn't as good as people think. It's still good, but it's not elite at the moment. The defense is a little better than people think.

So, the problem is that they would never stop UAT or UTK and they don't quite have enough to score with them. And Georgia would be a completely different issue.

M would have the same problems -- only worse, actually, because I think you need to be really good at passing to have any chance against those 3 teams. HARBAUGH!!!! has built his team to beat Ohio State, and they will -- Minter will depants CRD -- but, M is, honestly, no where close to SEC elite. They don't trust JJ and they don't have the athletes at WR.

    • Ranking purely on who I think is the best team (not resume, not results, just best teams):

      1. Georgia
      2. UAT
      3. UTK

      4/5. OSU/M

      6. Clemson

      7. TCU

      • That’s fine. I like to mix in results and best. Doesn’t really matter with all of the remaining games.

        So M defeated UConn 59-0.
        UConn defeated Boston College.
Boston College was in a close game with Clemson for a half on prime time TV a few weeks ago… 🤔 Suspicious Clemson…

Clemson actually reminds me of that Florida State team that made the Playoff in 2014. Kept winning close games. Everyone called them frauds. Blown out by Oregon in the Playoff.

        • The ACC is terrible. TERRIBLE. 2 of the 3 other "good" teams -- Syracuse and UNC (Wake being the other) have been blasted...BLASTED...by Notre Dame. At home.

Agree M has to develop a passing game to compete at an elite level. Watching games yesterday and seeing Harrison, Colemen and Reed play at such an incredibly high level is a frustrating pleasure.

I'm concerned that there's a trend for M's QBs to not fully develop under Harbaugh - I mean the appearance in game that there's more to their skill sets they brought to the program that aren't finding their way to performance in live action. An unexpected QB ceiling, lack of trust, offensive passing schemes and play calling???? No way we are going to know but JJ wasn't the spectacular QB he should have shown out as v MSU's pass D - especially late in the game after the offensive coaches saw what schemes MSU was fielding for pass D.

Occam's razor tells us JJ isn't as good as his hype and M's receivers are just guys lacking the star quality of today's standout CFB receivers.

            • I think the NFL will tell you type of WRs you have soon enough. And it'll be predictable.

I'm not sure what HARBAUGH!!!! is doing. Honestly, I think he's full-on beat Ohio State and worry about the rest later. And that probably makes sense. He can beat Ohio State. He doesn't recruit well-enough to beat elite SEC teams. So, get the wins you can, hope for a good CFP draw and maybe get to the title game. But, sooner or later you run into the machine.

If you watched Tennessee yesterday, they pretty obliterated UK's run game. Now, UK is no M, but they can run the ball. UTK ripped them. They can't defend the pass that well, but the run? Not a problem. And it's the same deal with Georgia and UAT. You ain't lining up and running Corum for 200 yards.

Ohio State probably has the pass game to hang in there. BUT, they have to get past HARBAUGH!!!!, and Ohio State's run defense is NOT where it needs to be to force M out of what they want to do. So, then it becomes a question of M's run game vs OSU's pass game, and that's a toss-up.

              • I think TCU is a better team than Clemson.

                But anyway…

The playoff rankings at this point don’t mean much.

If Ohio State, Michigan, Alabama, Georgia, or Tennessee win out, they will be in the CFP. So, those five team’s destinies are in their own hands. Any loss by Bama eliminates them and the later in the year it gets, the more likely the current undefeateds are in the same boat.

                • Playoffs:

                  1. Georgia
                  2. Ohio State
                  3. TCU - As long as they finish undefeated.
                  4. Tennessee or Alabama, whichever is considered to be the SEC runner up.

                  ---

                  Everyone else is a pretender.

If Michigan's only loss is to OSU, then they'll head to the Rose to face the Pac 12 winner. They aren't getting in with one loss. No way Jose.

                  • If Georgia beats Tennessee in a close game next week and keeps Tennessee out of Atlanta, and Bama loses to the Dawgs there, it will be Tennessee with the 4th spot.

The only way Bama goes is if they win out, including the SECCG.

                    • Tennessee OL headbutts helmetless teammate while celebrating TD

                      Just guys being dudes.
Tennessee offensive lineman Jerome Carvin was pumped up after blocking for a 1-yard touchdown rush by Jaylen Wright. He unfortunately went for a head bump with fellow offensive lineman Gerald Mincey, who did not have his helmet on anymore.

It wasn’t funny for Mincey, but it’s pretty funny for everyone else.

                      • This is part of Brian's post M/MSU game summary where he makes the case for who are the best teams in CFB right now and who will ultimately be the most deserving when the regular season is finished. CFP teams (at this point) deduced from the chart are self explanatory. His final comment is one I agree with.
