The CFP committee's choice boils down to this: better to take the medicine in the first round with a UGA-Bama rematch, or risk an all-SEC rematch in the finals? The 2011 BCS Bama-LSU rematch got bad TV ratings. Guessing they split UGA and Bama, but you never know.
The 2011 blowout is a weird and either stupid or intellectually dishonest comparison. I'd think the more apt comparison would be, you know, when UAT and Georgia actually played, you know, in the CFP. That remains the 2nd highest rated CFP final. So, yeah -- that's a fucking idiotic point.

    • Again, I realize M fans haven't followed the CFP much, but no need to advertise that fact.

        • The ratings for this years semifinals are going to be down, too, because they have to play them on a Friday on New Year's Eve.

Oh, that's not me. I know how long it's been since M won a B10 title. Like a long, long, long time.

            • Lots of Buckeye sour grapes lately...

              • Debating whether Michigan should be the 1seed over Alabama in the college football playoff was not a conversation I expected to be having in early December.

                • Oh, no doubt. Though, I don't think there's much a debate.

Just FTR, in 2019 Ohio State was #1 going into the CG weekend, beat Wisconsin by a clear two scores and was still jumped by LSU. The result -- a matchup with Clemson instead of shitball Oklahoma.

So, you know, the SEC will be #1.

                  • Well, I should go ride by bicycle. I'll miss the great selection show extravaganza. The way things are going for M this year, it wouldn't shock me to see them draw UC, but I fully expect M-Ga and UAT-UC.

                    • Apparently the Duke’s Mayo Bowl is Big Ten vs ACC. Come on, give that to Purdue! I might have said it before, but outside of a NY6 bowl, the Duke’s Mayo Bowl is truly the greatest prize for a bowl game! The most troll-ish bowl game there is.

Edit: Actually, the Outback Bowl (“Bloomin Onion”) is pretty cool too.

                      • It's entirely possible Purdue faces Virginia Tech in the Pinstripe Bowl. I've seen that projected several places.

                          • Gonna be:

                            Alabama
                            Michigan
                            Georgia
                            Cincy

None of this is complicated or controversial.

                              • A few names I’m surprised aren’t getting mentioned more…

Dave Aranda — not at a “destination” job
Jim Leonhard — genius — should get a power 5 job soon. Maybe to backfill a guy getting a promotion.
Luke Fickell — not even rumors right now. Waiting for the NFL?
Tom Herman — not great at Texas, but wasn’t given very long either. Deserves another shot somewhere.
Gus Malzahn — would be a nice hire for a Top 25 program.
Dana Holgorsen — also not at a “destination” job
