  • It’s been a rough year for him. What, with Alabama losing a football game and all. He just needs some time. I would too.

    • UMass may be a good landing point for Brown. He recruits the east coast pretty well which I believe was part of Michigan's problem. There won't be a lot of pressure to win there either. If he gets them 6-7 wins a year, he'll be good for the long term.

      • Good for Don Brown.

Playoff Ranking. The playoff ranking show is tonight at 7pm E. I expect the top 10 to look like:
        1. Georgia
        2. Ohio State
        3. Alabama
        4. Cincinnati
        5. Michigan
        6. Notre Dame
        7. Oklahoma State
        8. Baylor
        9. Ole Miss
        10. Oklahoma
        ...
        Who cares about the remaining.
        ...

If Georgia beats Bama, it will be interesting to see who gets the 4th spot. Georgia, B10 champ, and Cincinnati are in. Will that 4th spot go to Notre Dame? B12 champ if Oklahoma or Oklahoma State win out? If Bama loses a close game to Georgia, does a 2 loss Bama get in? If Michigan loses a close game to Ohio State and Bama is blown out to Georgia... does a 2 loss Michigan get some discussion?

        • I'm not convinced Cincy gets in assuming they win out. At least they shouldn't.

          • Howls of protest should occur if ND takes a spot over ANY conference champ (well maybe not a 2 loss PAC12 or BIG12 champion). The threat of ND getting in though under various scenarios is real. Chaos will intensify if the winner of BIGE goes to Indy and loses to whoever shows up from the BIGW

It still pisses me off that Swarbrick has managed to avoid tying ND football to a conference. It is the height of good ol' boy bull-shit that FBS poo-bahs give ND special treatment and a separate set of rules for consideration of a CFBP berth.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

            • I have heard that this COULD be the first time NOT being in a conference will prevent ND from making the Playoff. Their resume lacking that extra game vs a top 15 opponent that would boost them.
However... if nobody steps up, ND will end up in the Playoff by a process of eliminating other P5 contenders. Could be the case if a B12 team doesn't emerge.

It would be funny to see ND left out as the #5 team for sure. Hope it happens for entertainment purposes.

I think Cincinnati deserves to be in the Playoff over ANY 2 loss P5 team.
Certainly over ND because this is where the head-to-head should matter. Cincinnati went into South Bend and comfortably beat ND in a true road game.

              • Yeah, they should get the nod over ND but neither of them are deserving.

                • How does ND get a pass on playing for the ACC championship? Why are they not in the ACC for football? Probably some NBC financial silliness.

                  • Any team ranked ahead of ND that loses in a CCG should stay ahead of ND. I can’t imagine dropping UAT behind ND because UAT had to play Georgia while ND say home. Fuck them.

                          • I really hate that I am going to have to hope for two teams from the same conference to get in to keep fucking Norte Dame out.

I still believe that if you don't win your conference you shouldn't get in, but I believe more strongly that you shouldn't even be considered if you are not in a conference.

                            Fuck Norte Dame

                            • Notre Dame’s remaining game is at Stanford. Their resume can’t really improve. The Playoff committee ranking them at #6 tells all you everything.
If the teams currently above Notre Dame collapse and nobody behind them takes advantage of their remaining games… Notre Dame stumbles into the Playoff.

Wishful thinking… remember how last season, BYU and Coastal Carolina randomly scheduled a game against each other on short notice? Notre Dame should do the same with UTSA, BYU, or some team like that during conference championship week.

Michigan or Ohio State will be out after Saturday. The winner, most likely Ohio State, would have to lose the CCG to miss the play off. That is a possibility, more so if in the unlikely event that M beat OSU

Based on current criteria Alabama and Georgia should both be in regardless of outcome of the Iron Bowl.

It looks as if Cinci wins they will remain at four. I don't have a problem with that as what difference does it make if Cinci or some other team gets railed by Alabama or Georgia?

I could see Notre Dame getting in if either M or OSU losed the CCG or if Cinci should lose to East Carolina

                                Oh yeah. Fuck Notre Dame
