Ohio State is just 4. And I think ratings are generally down for all sports. But, the selection show ratings are highly dependent on drama and there was none in 2020.

Yea nobody want to watch Tampa, Nashville or Gary Bettman's favorite team Arizona, They want to watch the original 6 especially the best team who has the most Cups in America the Red Wings then the Blackhawks. I would say The Rangers next with Boston/Montreal/Toronto. Philly/Pitt with the kid is a good draw also.

Herbstreit asked what is happening to are sport? last week. Referring to the 4-5 top teams and if you don't make the playoffs you don' t care about the bowls. Oklahoma State wide receiver Tylan Wallace opted out 'during' the game last night. Now today they said it was planned.

I'm surprised that there are so many bowls this year. Other than the playoffs, they are basically meaningless. Bowl games are meant to be a fan experience. A way for the fans to celebrate a good season with the team by being with them. No fans are allowed this year, so what's the point? Of course the answer is TV money. The networks are still coughing up big bucks for television rights to the various bowl games.
Still, it just seems silly to be playing some of them."The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, .. I'd worn them for weeks, and they needed the air"

Yeah, follow the money.
Sport is an economic sector in and of itself. Like the service, travel and leisure sectors, so heavily damaged by the pandemic, sport is going to suffer in a post pandemic era ...... but, not as badly. That's because of the continuation of sport in meaningful ways in the setting of a dangerous virus. There's lots to be learned from that approach that sports took.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

It’s not only for the fans (who can still watch on TV), it’s for the players. They gets some cash and prizes and are able to showcase their talents for the NFL or for more PT next year.
As far as “meaningless” they are no more meaningless than they’ve ever been. For decades, same as now, we’ve picked a national champion from just a couple of bowls. The Gator Bowl or Liberty Bowl or whatever was never meant to crown a champion. That hasn’t changed. It’s not their purpose."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

The first bowl game of this season was played like the day after the selection show. Very strange.

I use to enjoy most bowl games. Perhaps that had to do with being in a ~50 person pool where we pick the winner of all bowl games.
Now? Don’t really care about the non-Playoff bowl games.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill
