      There are so many different rating schemes. Every pool of players will be slightly different, and their rating system may evolve and diverge from every other. There are schemes for converting, but they're all a bit unreliable. They're based on looking at players who are members of both pools and seeing what relationship there is between their ratings in each pool.

      And we all know how unreliable ratings are anyway. There are players who usually lose against people I can usually defeat, who nevertheless always defeat me; that just doesn't add up. It's a matter of style
      Well, the USCF, as you know, uses an ELO rating and 2200 is a master. I am a lowly 2133 OTB, but a 2360 in speed. My first tourney was 1977. We should play!

                  No. He would make moves to test me. Twice I was good enough to make the right move. They all involved positional control.

                    I remember both losses. Don't remember any of the 48 wins.

                    Loss 1 you sac'ed a bishop on h7, I bit, and as a result landed in a lost position. The other I left a rook hanging and resigned. I was in a bind before tye piece was left en prise, anyway.

                      I remember the first one. It completely F'd up your Q-side castle position. Forget the 2nd. The fact I can remember either 15 year old game is remarkable.

                              I go to a club. Just play casually now. Haven't pushed a piece in months. Last tourney was 11 years ago.
