Richt is a mediocre coach who hires and retains lots of poor assistants. He's basically Georgia's LLLoyd. I would be fine with him at Maryland.

If Ole Miss had managed to stop Arky's 4th and 20 lateral, fumble, lateral shitshow, Ole Miss would be playing in the SEC CG and Bama would, presumably, be out of the CFP.
If M had managed to get off a clean punt or, at the least, not give up a TD on its own punt on the final play of the game, then OSU would playing Iowa with the winner a lock to be in the CFP.
Such is the line between IN and OUT when it comes to the CFP.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

The point about Richt hiring and keeping bad assistants is spot on. That was the bitch from the big money that pushed him out.
He comes from the old school of nepotism and loyalty to a fault among college coaches. He's a good coach and if he hires the right assistants, he'll do well. Probably a good fit at Maryland.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

I'd say if he brought them up to 8 wins a season that would be hugeGrammar... The difference between feeling your nuts and feeling you're nuts.

I think that Richt is a bad fit for Maryland. He is a guy who wins with brute force talent and execution. That is why he has very few signature victories since Nick Saban and Urban Meyer showed up. He will never be better than fourth best in the division talent-wise. Maryland needs an offensive "system" guy like Mike Leach, Cliff Kingsbury, Ken Niumatulolo, etc etc and gimmick their way to 8-9 wins a year. JMO.

9 10-win seasons and 7 top 10 finishes in 15 years. 83-37 overall SEC record.
Richt was good.
South Carolina coached by Spurrier, Tennessee coached by Fulmer (in Richt's early years), Urban Meyer for 6 seasons, and even a good Missouri for a few seasons... Isn't like the SEC East is the terrible B10 West.
Georgia had to play a few games against the SEC West every year too.
Richt was "good" at Georgia.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill
