Talk about a track record.
No sane AD should hire this guy as a HC. As an OC, definitely. But he has proven beyond any shadow of a doubt he is not HC material in today's game. 5y ago, a decade ago, sure, give him a try. But not now, probably not ever.
I like the Gene Chizik model at UNC. He bombed horribly at Auburn. The guy has turned UNC, a perennial doormat football team, into a contender as The Hat, Fedora's DC.
I don't think anyone here would disagree he'd make a great OC somewhere where a program isn't going to get elite recruits, needs to figure out other ways to produce TDs and the HC will let him have NOTHING to do with defense, managing staff or representing a program without crying or saying fuck.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.Comment

Chizik was not a good HC at Auburn; he got lucky because he had one guy, Cam Newton, that could win games by himself.
Chizik's NC had nothing to do with Chizik and everything to do with Cam Newton's bag man that miraculously produced his arrival from UF to the Auburn Campus to play football.

In my book if you win a national championship, you have bombed a lot less than a Hoke or Rodriguez bomb. At any rate, it seems like if you coach at Auburn you'll have some good years but it will end badly.Comment
